  That's right it should be "1970s"(without the apostrophe) not "1970's".

  Surely a more obvious mistake is that nobody conquered the world in the 1970s?!

  The use of the apostrophe in this way is not a mistake, just a question of taste.

  I thought the answer was: it's a public address open to the public, and yet they are giving out badges so they can see who shouldn't be there.

  I was once chastised by an "acquaintance" of mine that was 2 months older than me but was made an MS when he turned 18. He tried to lambaste me for not wearing my badge on my street clothes. I told him he could turn his badge sideways and shove it
