This just shows we need to exercise due caution when new amazing stories come our way, O.K they are fun to read and discuss, but repeat a false story to your JW relatives or friends, and they will never believe anything you say again.
It's hard enough to get JW's to believe perfectly verifiable stuff like the U.N scandal, and some won't believe what was in old WT literature, so we don't want to muddy the waters by repeating false stories to them.
They are fun to speculate about on here though.

I was still in the organisation when South Africa had it's first democratic election in 1994. There was a lot of violence in certatin provinces (states) especially in Kwa Zulu Natal (where I abide) 2 factions: The ANC and the IFP were literally at war - more in the rural part but it did spill into the cities at times. Those of a voting age were told that if pressurised we should register to vote and go and 'vote'. Instead of selecting a party to rule, we were advised to either deface or select a number of parties - pretty much anything to make the ballot null and void. So yip - that one be true.

Dear Barbara,
do you ever recall a time at bethel where a breakfast announcement was made about brothers renting pornography from a local video store? I heard they were directed to return the movies before work started that day. I heard this from a missionary that claimed to be on a phone hook up from another bethel the morning this was announced, it would have been at least 15+ years ago (before 1997)

I wonder about No. 5? I would not be surprised if this happened somewhere. "Made" men don't want some idiot religion intruding on their family life. JWs are not like other religions. They stick their nose into your business.
Even if this were true, I suspect there would be some kind of cover-up because of the embarrassment to the religion.

That one had one right (selling off Brooklyn) one wrong (CO elimination, unless it was delayed) and one sort of right (reduction in aux pio hours, though its only once a year right now)
The CO elimination is still the one I'd like more information on...

i was really told this.... in fact the brother implied that a bethel elder would have been at the store waiting as they came to return the xxx movies.
apparently the vidoe store owner called the bethel and reported that adult movies were being rented with the bethel address as the home address of the renters. He felt this was in conflict with what JW's represent so he reported it.
as I recall this was first hand that I heard this, the brother that told me was having breakfast with the bethel family on hook up to the mother ship.
would love to hear from Barb if she ever recalled this :)
