Apparently the evidence is clear that CO2 levels are rising. What has proved surprising for alarmists however is that this has not resulted in temperature rises. Maybe those scientists who claimed higher CO2 levels causes temperature rises got it wrong.

Unfortunately hysteria is used to make a point and gain momentum.
But without the hysteria over the hole in the ozone layer in the 80's, would adequate measures have been undertaken to stop that form of environmental damage? I doubt it.
People sell doomsday scenarios to get research money. The media report the outside chance, worst possible case, because it sells more papers than the balanced view of reporting actual findings. BUT this is countered by the vast sums the oil companies are spending to research anything that makes 'their side' look good.
What is true is climate change is happening. CO2 levels are rising, the effect of which may be mitigated by the global dimming phenomena.

Climate change happens. it is a cycle.
The earth has been WAY warmer in the past than today.
The current round may or may not be caused by human activity.
If it turns out to be our polluting that is causing it, we will not be given a rewind button to put our mistakes right.
Better to be safe than risk blowing it for our grandchildren. A cleaner world is more pleasant anyway. How many here enjoy stinging eyes from the smog created by cars?
Would you build a theatre without fire escapes or sprinklers just because somebody said there is not yet any definite proof there will be a fire?

However, to say CO 2 emissions have no impact whatsoever is incorrect as well. The truth lies somewhere between the alarmists and the deniers.
