The easiest is to download the mag. but this is some of it.
Jehovah's fatherhood is a dominant theme in the Scriptures. For example,
some 65 times in the first three Gospels and over 100 times in John's Gospel, we
read of Jesus using the term"Father." Paul also refers to God as "Father" over 40
times in his letters. Jehovah is our Father in the sense that he is the Source of
our life. -

Paragraph 1 on page 19 starts out:
“F ATHER” was the term that Jesus often used when talking to and about God. When teaching his followers to pray, Jesus said: “Whenever you pray, say, Father.” (Luke 11:2)
Footnote also says.
“……Paul also refers to God as “Father” over 40 times in his letters.”
Elders and MSs alike can learn a thing or two from Luke 11:2. Whenever you hear a talk or even a prayer by a member of the servant body it seems like every other work is “Jehovah”. Jehovah this Jehovah that! I often wonder if Jehovah himself doesn’t get tired of hearing his name mentioned soo many times in one breath. And the rank and file copy the poor example during question and answer sessions by repeatedly referring to God as ‘Jehovah’ rather than using other expressions of endearment such as ‘Father’.
It is odd that WT would print an article in the public edition of the Watchtower on the matter as though they are an authority on the subject when they themselves are guilty of over using the name ‘Jehovah’ and rarely ever using ‘Father’. Hypocrites!
Thank you for the thread revealer.

" Jehovah is our Father in the sense that he is the Source of our life." They must have some difficulty in writing about God being our father because for the majority of JWs they are not his sons and daughters.

i don't recall jesus ever saying the word "jehovah".
some of us better do some research where that name originates from...
there is alot more to the story than psalms 83:18 would lead you to believe.

Just trying to clarify the point of the thread: Are you saying the Watchtower seems uncertain about how to address God during prayer? Is he called "Jehovah" or "[Our] Father"? If that is the point of the thread - and provided you believe in the God of the Bible - couldn't you call God both? Does one term negate the other? Will one term be more effective in 'getting through'?

The org cannot admonish witnesses to refer to the creator as "father". They teacher that he is father only to 144,000. Only the so called annointed are adopted as sons. So the majority are not children and have no standing to call him father.

steve2 - for me the point of the thread is this ; regardless of what teaching or thoughts we look at from the dubs it is obvious and this is more and more the case, that they cannot stick to a common belief on anything. I personally feel that as you state if one is a believer it really shouldn't matter. If I prayed to god calling him Joe certainly his all knowingness should make him aware that it is he/she that I am praying to. But the dubs/governing body have spoken under authority of spirit from that god, that approaching him/her as Jehovah is the only proper way. Here they emphasis what we already know, Jesus did not. And they even include the info that Paul called him/her as father, but not Mother, ha!
So to sum it up, I just like to/have to make a point of how whacky i think they really are. And of course this comes from one who allowed himself to be mollified by the cult for many years. Meaning my Criticism comes from the full range from frustration to anger and all points in between.
