This convention badge belongs in an Armageddon museum right next to Fred Franz's pocket protector. Knorr certainly wasn't one of the nicest people around. The only positive things I can think about him were his acceptance of the necessity of a high school education, the founding of Gilead and the Ministry School, and the dropping of the Rutherfordian diatribes against marriage, and having children. The Judge would have told you to drop out of school and into field service while working your way into Bethel.
Nathan Knorr's own circuit assembly badge?

Hi SST,
Good observation about Rutherford. Only recently did I discover his admonition to youngsters from the pages of Watchtower that was contemporary to the 1942 book Children. There, he advised them to use the remaining days of school vacation following the convention to witness to and study with their childhood friends and acquaintences for some 6 hours per day.

The badge alone suggests that the Watchtower was leading it's member's into thinking that something would occur in the 1970's. Something that they have denied and passed it on to "Over Zealous" membership.

Band on the Run asked,
I wonder if ex-Witnesses, scholars, or Witnesses collect. Perhaps all three.
There are a lot of people who collect Watchtower memorabelia; I assume most of them are Witnesses. There are quite a few sellers who regularly list on ebay, as well as websites dedicated to selling Watchtower items. Here is one of those sites; brouse through it and have a look at some of the prices.
As George said, that name tag with Knorr's signature would probably get lots of interest.

I had all the literature from the earliest days with Russell through 1968. When my father died, one of the first things we decided as a family was to get rid of the literature. He would sit and vent for hours on end. It was his only passion, not his family. We just wanted them and could not just dump at the curb. We donated them to the KH. I suspect the older lit was destroyed.
I tried to get them back later through a family friend to no avail.
The prices!
I would love to have them on eBay and donate the proceeds to the Roman Catholic Church (as long as it was not an antiwoman project).

What bothers me about Rutherford is that after he told children to spend their vacation time in spreading his curious philosophies around and putting their own lives at risk, he headed to his five-star hotel. Once the convention was over, he jetted off to his mansion in San Diego and had his servants refill his scotch while lounging at his own pool in his bathing suit. I doubt the man ever set foot on the streets of San Diego. He probably didn't even know how to get to his mansion. His driver met him at the airport and he was well into his second drink by the time he got "home". This was a man who deserved to have King David, Moses, and John the Baptist (oh sorry, John the Baptizer) drop in on him one day and throw him out onto the street. This was a man who abused the entire "freedom of religion" notion and by all that is good and fair should have been sitting in prison for libel and fraud until the day he died.

I've seen a similar badge from the same assembly, but I'd hold off any conclusions about it being Nathan Knorr's.

@Finkelstein
Nope this is for autumn circuit assembly for 1970
Those were the days when we had lapel card also in circuit assemblies, not to forget that they used be three days, or was it even three and a half.
