Reading this thread made me realize just how blessed I am. I lost my best friend to suicide while we were both Witnesses. I mourned for 25 years because I found little or no comfort in the WTS's attitude toward suicide and the suvivors. I seriously contemplated taking my own life after my friend died but pulled back thanks to the help and love from non-Witness friends. Similarly, it was a non-Witness friend who helped me to end my grief and start living my life as I should not as the WTS had told me.
Since making up my mind never to set foot in a kingdom hall again, I have seen my life gradually improve. Depression is no longer an issue. My physical health, though impaired by diabetes, has actually improved since I made my decision. I am walking my own spiritual path free from the burdens and guilt the WTS imposed and looking forward to my remaining years with contentment and happiness. Today I am whole, hale and hearty and the wounds I suffered in the cult are healing. While they may well leave behind scars, they won't be festering and bleeding as they once did and for that I am truly grateful. Matters might easily have gone the other way. That they have not is proof enough that the religion of the WTS is a toxin the human soul and spirit should avoid at all cost.

I personally know of at least 6 different sisters in my Hall that are on anti-depressants. And thats only of what I know. I wouldn't be surprised if that number was much higher like 50 to 60%. also, we had once suicide in our hall. He was a young man in his late 20's. Very Sad.
Zordino Six JW Watchtower sisters on anti-depresants? Is that Prozac or something other drugs? I think, six is quiet a big number. That is certainly theh proverbial tip of the iceberg.

Fluoxetine (Prozac) is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (bothersome thoughts that won't go away and the need to perform certain actions over and over), some eating disorders, and panic attacks (sudden, unexpected attacks of extreme fear and worry about these attacks). www.nlm.nih.gov For those of who had Jehovah's witnesses friends, pioneers, special pioneers, ministerial servants, elders, wives of elders, and Bethelites, was the use of Prozac a regular part of background, small talk while you were in field service, car groups etc?

I was at a recent gathering and someone brought up the subject. All of the people in the room (about 15) had at least one family member on anti depressants.
I think it is more common than we think

Well I think Neurosis are suppose to be a good thing that lead to psychic healing if they are worked through. I'd rather self medicate. I'm sure cognitive dissonance is recking havoc to the psychi's of many JWs.
