Perhaps, you two have a point. I like a lot of posters (the vast majority) for a lot of different reasons. I especially like the diversity of experience, expertise, talent, and points of view represented here. I like the humor and the fluff as well.

I nominate (surprise surprise!!!) AlanF for outstanding common sense and a mastry of logic and reason.

I wouldn't call it an "attempt" to validate or credit posters. I think Celtic's heart was in the right place. With all of the sniping that goes on sometimes, it's nice to see a thread started with the purpose of giving posters a pat on the back.

With that said, I also cringe a little when I see threads like this, because I think it eventually turns into a popularity contest, and it does seem sometimes that cliques nominate their own.

But ultimately, who cares? Personally, I'd rather see the various opposing factions compete to see how well they can build their own up, rather than how well they can tear the other side down.

Actually, I think it's really cool that two of the people who agree with me are people I've had disagreements with before.

The fact that some people can realise that you don't have to disagree with someone all the time just because you disagree with them some of the time is what makes places like this great, and underlines the meaninglessness of a poll like this.

Concensus springs out of diversity? I don't know... howabout a group hug?

Maybe not... stiff upper lip and all that what?

Well, I have to laugh!

Abaddon, again, said it very well. I love the humor...the part about the US coming and training and "Good Jobbing" everyone is too true! I will try not to do that on the board!

I never made the team/list/got picked at kickball, so I too hate these polls.

There are many, many contributors on the board whose knowledge and ability to express their thoughts mirrors mine. There are others I do not agree with. However, that is what makes it fun to come her.

Frankly, Abanddon sent me an E-mail when the dubs came to my door a few months ago. What he told me was really good advice. I have also received some lovely E-mail from LDH, plmkrzy, JT, TR, closer2fine, thirdson, SYN, Nathan Natas and Amazing. I think they are all great.
