As for me personally, nothing anyone did to help my children would offend me. Unless there was some sort of catch to it, which there is not in your case.

You have to do what you have to, if you have family in or you wish to waste their resources worrying about you. Some people stand to lose much if they just abandon the religion, and they need time so they can prepare. Others stand to lose the opportunity to extricate their families from the cancer, and that can take a lot of time.
Besides, it is you alone that bears the fruit of whatever decisions you see fit to make. I am not offended by whatever you choose to do--especially if it doesn't directly affect me.
You're doing a great thing. That was a contention i still have with my mom; that for all her anger toward the society for keeping her from going to college, she never did anything to help her children to go. Several years ago I started buying savings bonds for my nephew for college. I told him I am willing to pay for him to go, but there is no way my money will be used for a bullshit teenage JW wedding or bail/criminal defense.
My reason for this thread was to search for some much needed confirmation, so thank you for the warm replies.
I know I'm probably not going to be "saving" my Mom, Sis or BIL, but I hold out hope for my niece and nephew. If I leave now I can't help at all and they will grow up thinking their auntie is an evil crazy apostate and ignore me. Since I don't want that, my active status is held so I can (hopefully) prove to them that I’m an intelligent person with common sense and a good head on my shoulders, then maybe, just maybe, they’ll listen to me. However if they leave the borg before I do than, fantastic, I'll encourage them; if they choose to drink the kool-aide then I will most likely make my exit knowing there is nothing more I can do. Either way I will support and love them while trying to provide the opportunities witless children do not get, but deserve.
BIG hugs, and thanks again.

That is a wonderful action on your part. The one scenario I imagine would offend the parents is if they throw the kids out because of the religion, and there you are, offering them a safety net. That would be wonderful (not the kicking them out, may be a good riddance from the religion, but never good).
20, may be 30% chances they remain witnesses. see that you keep control over the accounts, so they don't use the money to go preach "where the need is greater".
You're doing a wonderful thing for these kids. If you really do save for them, then maybe as they get into high school, you can drop hints that should they decide to go to college that will help them if you can. They don't have to know of the money, necessarily, but you can assure them of your intention to help them with funds. You can also drop subtle ideas about the lack of college making life harder and that going to college sure makes a difference in quality of life, along the way.
If your in the USA......... Google 529 college plans. The money is invested towards a child's education and can apply to a wide lattitude of educational options including trade schools and community colleges for 2 year degrees. You also keep total control of the money and how it is spent. You can also get your money returned to you should they don't want to pursue some kind of education. http://www.savingforcollege.com/intro_to_529s/name-the-top-7-benefits-of-529-plans.php
I have two beautiful wonderful brilliant nieces (ages 2 and 4), and I dont have the slightest hope that either of them will have any chance of leading a normal cult-free life. My sister is so fking brainwashed (always has been, as far back as I can remember) and her hubby is an elder or elder-in-trainning and one of the doushiest self-righteous jackasses Ive ever met (his self-grandizing sense of importance just pours off him, and he talks down to everybody especially concerning "spiritual" matters). I predict as they grow older and beggin to develop cognitive reasoning I'll be allowed to see them less and less in fear of me being a bad influence on them ...which I would be (not that I see them more than once year as it is). It's really sad, and I hope I can do the same kind of thing, maybe set up an education fund for them. But I'm still in school and have a mile-long student loan that's still growing so I doubt I'll be able to, as I plan on having my own kids one day. I hope that when I have kids of my own, my nieces will be able to see how much better our lives are and make them question their own.
Good on you, Lost-Lamb! That's very admirable.
I appreciate all your comments and suggestions; I'm in the US and will look into the 529 college plans.
I intend on keeping full control of any monies, none of it will be given directly to them; funds will either be paid directly to an establishment for tuition, books, supplies etc. or will go for my retirement.
I also will use discretion on when, if and how I let them know about it.
And don’t worry, at ages 6 and 9 I’m already dropping “hints” and slight suggestions about their future. It’s nothing bad or apostate, just innocent things like asking what they plan on doing if this system keeps going until they’re old? And, then what, what will you do? It gets them to think of the future, their future, something the borg doesn’t want them to do.
Thanks, DLL
