If over 90 per cent of people identified themselves as sober and yet they drank to excess daily you'd have to adjust the definition of sober.

Religious people consider their inebriation a positive thing which not only does NOT impair their thoughts and actions--but--IMPROVES them in every way!

That is the most interesting thought I have read this week.

The main problem with religion is its pertaining power and control that is formulated into its very structure.

An availability of power offered mainly toward men and mostly out for the benefit of men.

The other elements of harm come into effect when its realized that most of the great religions that exist

today were constructed by ancient primitive people/civilizations a very long time ago.

Humanity has learned much about himself and the world we live in since ancient times or when those religions were

firstly created. Since the leaders of religions like the JWS take the assuming position of divine power from god

they are held down by the said holy texts, which are supposedly expressions of that divine power and wisdom, but in reality

were social moral standards created by ignorant and primitive societies.

But, looking at the large scale world, these religious sub-cults (which are a small minority) eventually burn themselves out with their own stupidity.

The divine power is still honored in the background, but it is always evolving and presented differently in each generation.

Examples? Slavery - not condemned by the bible. Gay lifestyle - somewhat demonized by the bible.

Both have changed in modern society - by even most religious society.

There's definitely some movement toward acceptance of secular social standards but what is it that is impeding social acceptance

and understanding today ? In the Islamic world homosexuality is still deemed a crime of which in some countries like Iran carries the death penalty.

There were unquestionably some good social standards established in those ancient civilizations to be realized but there were also some bad ones as well.

Religion is supposed to instruct a person on how the soul works, how to improve it, and using it to attain personal fulfillment. Instead, all it does is creates problems.

First, evangelism is necessary because all three right-hand path religions are so flimsy on their principles that they need strong enforcement to work. We see this "anti-semitism" rubbish that protects the Judaism platform from criticism. Christi-SCAM-ity had its Inquisition, and still has hell threats that do the same thing. Islam has its hell threats and Sharia Law to do this. All three invade other cultures and corrupt or destroy their own religions so they no longer work. Buddhism and Hinduism have been trashed by Judeo-Christi-SCAM-ity and Islam; neither work properly today. Even Wicca and what we call paganism have been contaminated so they don't work.

What about for individuals? Christi-SCAM-ity is the worst these days, but all three have missionaries and "monks" wasting their lives (in different religions, they have different names but they all stay sequestered and refrain from normal activities). And those invaded by missionaries often have people hounding them to join. When that no longer works, they infiltrate the governments and force people to change. Sometimes they exploit wars and famines, hijacking famine relief efforts so they are forced to become Christians as a condition to receive aid. Other times, they kidnap and rape children (including acts designed to shame the parents into believing the Original Sin crap, that are too graphic to describe on this forum) to accomplish this. The bosses instruct people "Do WHATEVER it takes to plant those churches!". Lives are ruined, countries are trashed, and the scum at the top get the money and power.

People that just do regular service are affected, too. "The world is such a terrible place, because of our enemy. But we have to stand with Jesus, and he will take care of us if we have faith." is too common. (Jehovah and Allah are also used as fake refuges in other religions.) So, they give up all their sex, they become homophobic, and they waste all their money tithing it away. Many become complacent as that "Turn the other cheek" rubbish and "Walk the extra mile" crap help prepare them to be enslaved.

If religion was doing its job, people would improve themselves. You would not see religious groups from the Big Three going into Africa, kidnapping people, and selling them as slaves in parts of the world where they are not suited for (not enough sun=not enough vitamin D=diseases). Those religions are responsible for racism (both regular and reverse), as well as enslavement. This prevents people from improving themselves or society. Instead, you have crime, poverty, violence, lousy job prospects, diseases, and famine often in places where the Big Three religions are strongest. You see people walking 20 km each way, in bare feet on hot pavement or dirt roads, to churches that are ornate and expensive despite that their own homes are so shabby, and still getting coerced to waste their money on tithes.

This is why people are trying to dump the big three religions en masse. Especially Christians, who are seeing the rubbish they are putting out. They have seen that Jesus does nothing for them. Jehovah and Allah are also non-responsive, but people are open enough to at least give Allah a chance before even his time runs out. Quite a few become atheists, trying to do their own thing to improve themselves. This is a big improvement because they don't waste time trying to serve gods that are detrimental and wish only to enslave the human race (like Jehovah, Jesus, and Allah). Others are trying to explore the left-hand path--religion that actually teaches us about how we ourselves can improve our own souls without depending on Jehovah, Jesus, or Allah.

I encourage anyone that is sick of Christi-SCAM-ity, Judaism, or Islam to deeply research those other religions--even if you are currently scared off by the idea of worshiping Satan. Ask, did Jehovah, Jesus, or Allah ever do anything worthwhile for you? How often do you see any of these gods doing anything for anyone? If they did nothing but create excessive demands on you, why are they worth obeying? Religion is supposed to help people, not scare them.

Religion is a tool. It can be used for good or to do harm, the same as engineering can be used to make tanks or tractors, atom bombs or nuclear power. Religion is guilty of much but it is also used as a scapegoat. Humans will do what they want to and find an excuse to justify it.

Humans are by nature mystical creatures, living a world that has become an experiment in engineering. Some people find great emotional comfort in pursuing a spiritual path. It fulfils a deep need that must be channelled into something. It helps them find balance in a modern world. It is a luxury I can no longer enjoy myself.

Perhaps abolishing all belief that there may be something more to life than we can perceive from our outlook on planet earth, could do more harm that good to many peaceful people.

Fine. I agree with that.

But I am arguing that it is a moot point - because, simply - this is human nature.

The biggest attempt at non-religion in history was the Soviet Union and - to a lesser degree - Red China.

Both have reverted back to traditional religion - because it is human nature.

Well, I see your point. I really do.

I'm not suggesting the feasibility of a perfectible humanity.

Certainly it is the nature of weeds to grow in our garden. But, that doesn't prevent us from removing them so that the preferred flora remains.

Among the undesirable weeds in the "nature" of humanity is projecting an escape from death by the agency of an imagined supernatural realm.

We can't force humans to give up on living forever. We can't destroy hope.

But, why empower a hierarchy to control all of us while claiming God is whispering instructions in their ears?

Why submit to nonsense rules and abject guilt for SIN (which is--as you say--indelible to human nature?

As long as we are fallible and superstitious--why not modify our behavior as far as possible and redirect our negative tendencies?

We can be each others' sponsor (AA style) to support a "fearless and searching inventory" of human blindspots.

Science has been our best start. Logic and technology come from the healthiest side of human nature. Medicine and social reforms indicate

what we are capable of.

Religion camouflages a poison we cannot control if we do not remain vigilant and honest.
