In our last CA it was said from the platform that the GB has said we shouldn't buy food that is only produced at certain times of the year. Although not specified I imagine they meant turkeys, christmas puddings, easter eggs, hot cross buns etc. the reasoning that it's attached specifically to pagan festivals

The result has been lots of JWs in an uproar. Some saying 'WT...???' and some saying 'well, I've always bought christmas puddings in the past but if the GB say so then I must obey'.... others saying 'well, I don't care what the GB say I'm going to carry on anyway, if Paul could eat food sacrificed to idols I can eat christmas pudding'...

I really think this triviality from the GB has got more reaction than the demo about the overlapping generation. Has anybody else heard anything like this?

good grief all witnesses go out on xmas eve to buy discounted christmas food. Some buy Easter eggs after Easter when they are cheaper. This is stupid it is just food and confectionery. By making a special point not to buy it you make more of it than necessary.

It sounds like fruitcake, which I love. But no one else in my family likes it, so I don't buy it. It sure sounds yummy!

Oh for Pete's sake! I would be easier for the WTBS to just give the adherents a list of the things they can only eat and do, then they can easily df the heretics. Amazing.

Chrismas pudding is a dense steamed fruit pudding with plenty of alcohol. I make my own and then leave it to mature. It should be served with flaming brandy, rum or brandy butter. It also goes well with custard, brandy sauce, ice cream or cream. Very rich and very festive. You can only buy them at christmas.

Think of Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol. Plum pudding. The British steam it. The best I had in NY came from a British store. The pudding is an excuse to smother it with hard sauce, vanilla sauce with tons of brandy. It is very dense.

I prefer Christmas pudding to the French classic, buche de noel, which is a chocolate sponge cake decorated as a Yule log, complete with marzipan mushrooms.

Christmas pudding is commercially available year round in the U.S. It tastes bad compared to the authentic kind. They also sell nonalcohol hard sauce to go with it.

I am drawn to the tradition of it. It was pricey. Good buche de noel is expensive, too. Is it wrong to eat it in July?

Do they not know that all fruits and vegetable are "only produced at certain times of the year"? This is by nature and evidently by their God's design.
