Its just another form of confirmation bias. The religious propoganda spouted forth in WTS literature contributes greatly to the average JW being unable to see the forest through the trees.

These kind of arguments are simply absurd once you have mastered the skill of critical thinking.

I heard this same line of reasoning at an assembly.

What passes for "reasoning" in JW-land is very weak indeed. This is, I believe, the MAIN REASON they don't want JW youth to pursue the Evil Higher Education: they will learn Critical Thinking Skills and realize what a sham the WT Scam is.

wasblind- glad to see you online today - and JWs love gettin' kicked in the keester for losing in the game of life- we're persecuted, because we're God's people!

No, you got the boot for being stupid- and 99.9% of your neighbors have tried to tell you so!

I find it funny how most religious people, but especially witlesses, have to keep reaffirming that they are in the one and only true religion.

When something is right, it's right, and you shouldn't need constant confirmation of that, so why do they?

Even if you get a witness to focus on the court cases they've lost or the out of court settlements, their argument will then be "these cases were ridiculous.......this is proof that we're being persecuted which in turn is proof that we're the only true religion"

Yep outsmart, it really does boil down to this:

    WT loses court case=Persecution

WT wins court case=It must be God's Org!

To the Original posters title, I think the real answer it this

It must be God's organization because.......I have spent (x) number of years slaving away for it for free, and I personally can't bear to face the fact that I was tricked for (x) number of years.

    Quoting from The Witchtower 9/2010:

There can be no doubt that the Watchtower organization is protected by God. The book Draw Close to Jehovah explains: “The ruler of this world would like nothing more than to eliminate true worship … Some of the most powerful governments on earth have banned our preaching work and have tried to wipe us out completely. Yet, Jehovah’s people have remained firm and have continued to preach without letup! Why have mighty nations been unable to put a stop to the activity of this relatively small … group of Christians? Because Jehovah has shielded us with his powerful wings!” – page 73.

However, the same applies to the Sicilian Mafia and its offshoots. There can be no doubt that ‘the rulers of this world would like nothing more than to eliminate’ the Mafia. Not only “some of the most powerful governments on earth” but practically all governments have “banned” the Mafia and ‘have tried to wipe it out completely.’ Yet the Mafia ‘has remained firm’ and has continued its criminal activities without letup! Why have mighty nations been unable to put a stop to the activity of this rela-tively small group of criminals? Apparently for the same reason – because Jehovah has shielded them with his powerful wings.

Once again , the Watchtower is being truthful, but you must parse the claim properly to see the truth in it.

"It must be God's organization because..."

The Watchtower created a god, and the organization is based on serving that god, so that makes it god's organization. They count on you thinking the "God" mentioned in that statement is the almighty creator when it is really the fickle corporate god they created. This is another instance of their typical bait and switch mentality.

"It [the Watchtower] wouldn't have lasted this long without God's backing".

In a weird sort of way, that almost makes sense.

Given the sheer ineptitude and utter incompetence, not to mention its wacked-out belief system, ever-changing doctrine, and downright malicious policies, how else do you figure the organization has lasted this long?

Any other "worldly" organization with its track record would have been sued out of existence, or gone bankrupt, decades ago.

There must be some higher power that is protecting it!
