I have trouble getting small vat fresh light beer down. The only time I am tempted to drink it is at a sports complex, such as Yankee Stadium, during rock concerts. They don't serve wine or feminine cocktails. I also crave it with corned beef and pastrami sandwiches.
I have tried so hard to cultivate a taste for it. Watching people relish it, I feel cheated. Wine was much easier to cultivate. In fact, I wish I had stayed more in my long term price range with wine. I remember when Boone Farm Apple Wine tasted good.
How do you cultivate it? Am I supposed to drink it even tho it tastes like soap suds to me? I do prefer Heineken and the even pricier European beers to Bud.
I also like it with potato salad. A fine wine seems so out of place.
I adore sugary cocktails.
BOTR"....I also like it with potato salad...."
Yeah, a few beers with a good potato salad -not stingy on the hardboiled eggs and chopped onions...a couple of bangers... you got it sweety!
Stay away from any sources of open flame that evening.
I don't usually drink beer, but when I do I drink Dos Equis.

Stay thirsty....etc
I'm 50/50 on the beer....I prefer wine...
On a really hot day, take your German Wheat beer, put it in the freezer for a while until it becomes a slush, then drink that, very nice.
Ushers 4 seasons is a very nice beer, shame Tesco didnt stock it for long.
I like a nice heavy Porter.
I love Black style beers, lots of strong flavors.....like NZs Montieths Black Beer or Mac Black
here in Australia there is an ad on TV about Canadian Club killing the Beer Fairy..............it's not pretty LOL
Some people just don't like beer (I love beer, drinking one right now). You might like something like a Lambic Framboise. It is technically a beer but it is very sweet, like a wine almost. There's a local brewery called Arsenal that has a cider that tastes like a dry wine. I have quite a few that I really love. I love Magic Hat #9. I would have a baby with Magic Hat #9 if I could. I do love some of the local breweries in Pittsburgh too. There is the Church Brew Works. They converted a huge church in Pittsburgh to a brewery. Awesome food and the beer is even awesomer. If any of you are in town and stop by there, try the Pipe Organ Pale Ale. It does not get better than that. Then there is the Hofbrauhaus which also brews their own beer. Food is okay. There is always live German music playing and dancing on the benches in the beer hall. They also adhere to the Beer Purity Laws so you know you are getting some real German brew. Then of course, you have the Pittsburgh staple Yuengling. It's America's Oldest Brewery. It's not too bad either. I better shut up or I'm going to write a novel on beer.
EDIT: outsmartthesystem, just read your post. I am drinking one right now. I have to assume you have lived in Pittsburgh at some point. It's hard to come by Yuengling otherwise. I know people who travel from out of state and get 3 or 4 cases to take home.
