The WT religion calls itself "the truth" but in reality it's a legalistic counterfeit of genuine biblical Christianity.
Welcome aboard Tamasin...sorry to hear about your experience with that guy, but glad you're no longer apart of the WTBS...it is true as you said that because of the WTBS it has ruined the possibility of having a relationship with God...because it's like starting all over again.
I do wish you all the very best in your endeavors...I'm new here myself and the folks here are helpful and will give an listening ear.

Hello and welcome Tamasin.
Your story hits a little close to home, it sounds eerily familiar to circumstances of my own many years ago.
Don't worry that your experiences may have "ruined any possible chance at a relationship with god"... allow all of your thoughts and doubts and theories to flourish, but don't fret about it (I was terrified but that was before there were supportive discussion boards such as this one.) You will ultimately find it marvelously freeing and oddly satisfying to not know the answers and be perfectly okay with that.

Thank you all so much for your lovely and encouraging replies :)
I actually do feel quite a lot better since sharing, it's unhealthy to hang onto hatred for someone for so many years who doesn't even deserve my thoughts at all. This is a lovely place, not perfect which is great because that means everyone is REAL.
I look forward to participating a lot more now that I've broken my silence lol.
