I did notice the plane at the end. Never made that connection. Sounds like a new story.
Sparlock #2: The Magic Continues!
Sparlock: "I've been thrown away. Cast off like yesterday's rubbish. My magic pad tells me local garbage pickup isn't until tomorrow. Even so, what I have to do needs to happen now, when their attention is elsewhere. Magic ON!
[A toy airplane soars through the sky.]
Sparlock: Have to angle it...just right...to get the lid open again...GGGAAAAAAAAH!!! Anthony Morris, David Splane, perfectly aim this orange airplane!
[ZIIING! The airplane dives down at the trash can!]
Sparlock: Now...pull up at the last...moment!
[BLAP! The airplane knocks open the trash can's lid! Sparlock floats out of the trash can! The airplane is held by magic against the trash can's lid.]
Sparlock: Now to return the toy airplane to its place...so that Caleb and his mother won't suspect a thing. Powers of Tolkien and Stephen King, return this airplane--they won't know a thing!
[The airplane flies back into the house, and the trash can closes once more. Sparlock peers around the trash can.]
Sparlock: Now to wait until nightfall...when the parents are tired from field service, I can make my move, under cover of night...
[Later that night...]
Caleb: And Jehovah, please forgive me for having that magical toy. I don't want to make you sad. [His eyes well up.] I was only playing. I didn't think of how you feel about magic, and I'm so sorry...[sniffles]
[Sparlock floats in through the window, an aura of blue sparkles surrounding him.]
Caleb: [Gasp!] Sparlock! But...but how???
Sparlock: A wizard warrior never reveals his secrets! Shhhh....don't be afraid. I'll hide here, behind these old stacks of Awake! magazines. It'll be our little secret...and whenever you want to play with me, just whisper the words, "Magic ON!", and I'll be there.
Caleb: [smiling in awe] You promise??
Sparlock: I promise. [He floats behind the stack of magazines in the corner] Good night, Caleb...sleep well...and never give up your dreams...
