The wacked-out goofy elder in our congregation always says, "Brothers, the new order isn't right around the corner. We've turned the corner and it's right in front of us".
I think I found a picture of your goofy elder.

I remember their saying that in 1969. Jesus prediction and warning to the Christians was in 33 C.E. and it came "true" 37 years later. Even Noah only had a timeline of 120 years. From 1876 (per Don Cameron) to 2012 = 136 years....
I remember it being said last year that we are in the toenails of the statue in Daniel.
JW's are the slime balls between the toes of the statue, not really, that is unkind....to slime balls.
They have to keep saying this total crap to keep people in the cult by fear, but 136 years of crying "Wolf!" is a damned long record I think.
Not only did they say it in 1969 - I SAID IT in 1969......Sorry!
"We are at the end of the last day of the last days. The governing body feels strongly about this.""
Well...........I wish they would have told us for the past 50 years that they did NOT FEEL STRONGLY about it!
We could have all planned our lives a bit differently!
Wouldn't you like to have asked if they felt as strongly about it in 1969, 1974, 1999, etc?
None of them even old enough to recall the earlier dates. In fact, a couple of them might not have even been baptized in 1969 when all that was going on. (Don't recall who the younger pair are -- Jackson & Loesch maybe.) Oh wait, they'd have been 14 & 19 -- def baptized. Maybe even partaking.

In one sense, the WT leaders have believed and taught this since 1914 without using the actual words.
In another sense, if they really believed it, why have they redefined "generation" to buy themselves at least another hundred years?
If JWs rely on this as "truth from the slave" and quit their jobs, put off medical treatment, sell their homes, etc. all to pioneer, when it all comes to naught future JWs will be saying, "The organization isn't a false prophet. They never taught this. Individual brothers were at fault for running ahead of Jehovah."
How do we know this?
Just listen what they are saying today in defense of the organization, blaming JWs who believed what Fred Franz said about 1975, the "appropriate time for God to act..."
In fact, some JW leaders who pushed 1975 on the flock the hardest are among those today who deny that the organization bears any responsibility for the plight of JWs who trusted them and acted in reliance on their date.
Back then, if a JW didn't believe 1975 would be the end, he or she lacked faith in Jehovah "and his organization."
Today, a JW who showed the most faith that 1975 would be the end is seen as an overzealous fool.
This isn't something we read about in apostate literature.
Many of us lived through it and saw it with our own eyes.
Being of the GB seems to revolve a lot around how many new ways you can phrase "the end is nigh."
In ten more years, will we be in the "Final days of the last days of the last days?"
Probably.

I saw the same thing when I was snooping around the JWTalk nuthouse. It was the reaction of the dubbie taliban that disgusted me most, clapping with delight (in emoticon form) at this insipid drivel. Does anyone else feel like they need a bath after going over there?
the year 2069, DC Q&A talk:
Question: "but in 2012 you said:
"We are at the end of the last day of the last days. The governing body feels strongly about this.""
WTS - "yes but we were just zealous keeping watch. think about it, would you want a watchman to only sound a warning right when the enemy is upon you? of course not! You would want, expect even DEMAND of him that he sound a warning at even the slightest sign of danger no matter how far away they may be! Does this not prove that Jehovah's organization is sincerely keeping watch for you? Of course it does."
audience applaudes while nodding heads about how much sense that makes
