I think I should start mass producing Sparlock dolls and a Sparlock video game and Sparlock action figures and feature a Sparlock cartoon on Nickolodeon. Once the society sees the $ coming in.....I'll bet they'll change their tune on how evil Sparlock is.....and sue me for the proceeds.

Talking of video games, could anyone code a Sparlock video game and release it under the GPL as open source/freeware? If no-one is making money from it, could they still sue for copyright infringement?

If there is a copyright issue---it does not matter if you are profiting. You own your intellectual property, regardless if someone is making a profit or not. The issue I'm not clear on, is what are the copyright issues with something like this? I don't think they've trademarked Sparlock---but they did put their idea into tangible form--which gives copyright---I'm just not sure how far it goes.
