Please explain 607 B.C.E. to me as if I were a 5 year old

Hi guys,
I want to write an article about 607 B.C.E. but to be honest with you, I've never fully understood how the Watchtower Society got from 607 B.C.E. to 1914, to 1919.
Without sending me to a YouTube video, is there a way to explain this to me? I need a really dumbed down version, which includes the 70 weeks bit.
The best explanation wins my undying love for the next 24 hours.

It wasn't clear from your initial post whether you wanted to know what JWs believe or what is wrong with what JWs believe.
The simplest flaw (there are many flaws) in their doctrine relates to Jeremiah 25:12: Does 70 years end before or after the king is called to account?

The '70 weeks' 'prophecy' (a misinterpretation of Daniel 9:24-27 falsely co-opted by JWs and various other Christian groups) does not related directly to the JW doctrine about 607BCE. See here for more information about the '70 weeks'.

Or in other words, to a five year old, when you want to make people believe something, you have to find something that sounds as if it proves it. It diesn't matter what you choose. it's best to choose something that is different from what everyone else believes, because then it makes you very special.
That means that anyone who joins you can become special too.
And if you choose something a very, very long time ago, no-one can ever really prove you wrong.

I think a child aged five years should understand these words:
"All this happened to Nebuchadnezzar the king." "Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled..." - (Daniel 4:28, 33)
Reading through Daniel 4 without the extra-biblical idea of 'greater fulfillments' a young person should be able to grasp the fact that, according to the Bible itself, all of the prophecy was fulfilled in Nebuchadnezzar's day. That being the case, the date 607 BCE is irrelevant. -
