    getting older sucks,

    Amen

but on the other hand it is better than the alternative.

    Sometimes, I wonder ...

    Passage Ecclesiastes 12 :

    Ecclesiastes 12

1 -2 Honor and enjoy your Creator while you're still young,
Before the years take their toll and your vigor wanes,
Before your vision dims and the world blurs
And the winter years keep you close to the fire.

3 -5 In old age, your body no longer serves you so well.
Muscles slacken, grip weakens, joints stiffen.
The shades are pulled down on the world.
You can't come and go at will. Things grind to a halt.
The hum of the household fades away.
You are wakened now by bird-song.
Hikes to the mountains are a thing of the past.
Even a stroll down the road has its terrors.
    Your hair turns apple-blossom white,
Adorning a fragile and impotent matchstick body.
Yes, you're well on your way to eternal rest,
While your friends make plans for your funeral.

6 -7 Life, lovely while it lasts, is soon over.
Life as we know it, precious and beautiful, ends.
The body is put back in the same ground it came from.
The spirit returns to God, who first breathed it.

Yes, ShirleyW, another thing to worry about! What is one to do when sleep is hard to come by.

Talesin, Yes shift work is hard on the body, especially those with some miles on them. I am taking it easy so I can return to work, that activity that never seems to end. I hope you too are feeling better.

Thanks again, friends! Sorry for what you put up with.

Don't know what's going on. Slept 8 hours last night with once up, and that after 6 hours ...

This thread's making a liar of me!

I usually sleep like a log. I always read a bit beforehand, but sometimes it's as little as a paragraph. Sometimes a few pages. Then the light goes out, head on the pillow and I am gone.

When something is really worrying or unsettling me, though, it's a different story, and the WT certainly played havoc with my sleep after the elders' visit back in February. I had a bout an hour and a half.

I have detailed and vivid dreams, usually strange but pleasantish. However I've had some very nasty ones in the last three months, almost all attributable to JW's, and most especially the one about Armageddon.

The rest of you may be waiting for Armageddon. It came to me about 2 weeks ago. And it was classic, and extremely funny in retrospect, but not at the time. Jehovah included me in the ones to be obliterated "because I'd left the JW's!" The four horsemen were there too.

Oh! And want to know what Jehovah looks like? He's blue.

That's a true rendering of that dream. Blue.

AK - I had back problems from several traumas, and was actually wearing a corset-type back brace after a year of physio. Nothing seemed to help. My doctor recommended trying tai chi. It is extremely gentle, and helps with body alignment - if this is a muscular problem, it may help. I'm so sorry to hear this - back pain is just horrible and there is no relief. :((

    CoCo - That's a good sleep, man! :D

I wake up around 3 a.m every night and have a difficult time going back to sleep.

I've heard melatonin supplements help some with sleep disorders.
