I wouldn't say reduction of rules but change of rules. Instead of being a conscious matter they should divide problems within congs into sins and crimes. It's one thing if a member sleeps with another man's wife and something totally different if he rapes her. WTS should force alleged crimes to be reported to the authorities to deal with. If there is a known pedophile within the ranks that has served his time and if the law allows for the individual to be named, they should make that announcement. If there is a law against such announcements, they could possibly state something to the effect that there is a pedophile within the congregation without naming names. These individuals shouldn't be allowed to go from h2h for a simple reason that they are danger to the public.
WTS has a problem stating that pedos can't go from h2h because after all, if they don't have to why can't johhny suckup simply stay home and be considered a member in good standing? If Bro suckup doesn't have to go out, why do I have to? This will quickly take active dubs into becoming inactive rather quickly. If they become inactive, who knows what these people may do with all that extra time. Will they enjoy more of their life or will these people with extra time on their hands began to look at sites like this one? WTS is about control, you lose control, you lose members.
WTS is a cult, and they want to control every aspect of people's lives, and that includes secrecy. WTS needs major changes to how they treat crimes but instead what they appear to be doing is making a distinction between wts and individual jws by making it appear that jws aren't wts' agents. This is another stupid move and I doubt that courts will buy into this nonsense as they continue to protect criminals. Another problem might be is if they have a large list of pedophiles in Crooklyn, and they change the policy what will they do? Will they start naming names after they knew of these members for years? How will r&f view this? We're not talking about brain dead dubs who will stick with wts no matter what they do and call victims evil who will soon be killed by god, but rather captives of concept who believe wts. Announcements of this sort would rock the congregations and create divisions - wts does not want this.
IMO wts will continue to protect criminals as far as the law allows them, that's why they need more law suits against them, they need more publicity and they need to be kept under pressure from the authorities to change their policies or pay for their actions.
