'Cleaning' mechanical watches can be very tricky if you have no experience.

The process we go through can be simplified thus:

    • Remove movement from case.
    • Remove hands & dial, also datework if any.
    • Movement - remove barrel, this is cleaned & lubricated seperately.
    • Movement is placed in cleaning solvents and ultrasonically cleaned.
    • Clean case/b'let. Fit New Glass if required or polish (plastic only)
    • Once dry, re-fit barrel, any worn/broken parts and lubricate mov't (Balance & train wheel jewels and winding/hand-set mechanism).
    • Regulate and reassemble.

Solvants must be non-oily type (such as isopropol)

Lubricants must be sparingly used light watch oils. Correct watchmaker tools are also required, especially for removing the hands.

    Good luck!
