Excellent point Juan. Furthermore, I know of at least one person who has emailed me since this development and expressed an interest in taking their own case forward having been emboldened by Candace's story. I'm SURE the floodgates will open following this ruling, and I have a feeling things are already being put in motion with other similar cases.

Randy, I was going through some of my mothers old papers, etc .....she had your name and phone number written in her phone book! She was a JW many many years ago and when I started to study in the 80's she started doing research but she was already out. I have no idea how she got a hold of material exposing the WTS and I don't now how on earth she found you becasue no one was really using computers back then.
The funny thing is? My mother now has Alzheirmers (not funny) and forgets a lot of things, but the one thing she doesn't forget is the WTS . When I bring them up, she makes a disgusted face and says they are from the devil She also tells me how false they are, and when she later wanted answers from the bible they could not provide her with them. Of all the things she remembers.

Any bad news that gets established into the perception of the public domain becomes exaggerated. WHY? Because Jehovah's Witnesses go door to door the public would NEVER allow a Catholic priest to proselyte door to door among non Catholics after their big child abuse pedophile scandal.They may not even tolerate Nuns doing it. JW have a LOT at stake on their reputation they cannot shrug this off as 'persecution' nothing noble about child abuse it stinks to high heaven. Worldwide, there are over 7,600,000 Witnesses in more than 109,000 congregations.""
There is no way to corroborate the 7,600,000 figure as these are SELF-REPORTING statistics,nevertheless the bigger you are the harder you fall. The RCC has 850,000,0000 and are more likeable charitable and they have had to pay out $2 billion in abuse damages so far.
Last but not least,what about GOD's feelings? Does GOD matter to the Watchtower?

and what if the court does not give permission to sell? can they withdraw the appeal and just pay up?

They will see it as persecution but at the same time they must be very puzzled why their god let them get stuck with an odious reputation for protecting pedophiles.
If the court refuse permission to sell their Brooklyn properties it will be devastating to their plans.
Other victims should get talking to lawyers asap
