The Society is claiming that a confession by a guilty person does not mean you call the police or disclose it to anybody. A random ministerial servant says he did something wrong and is sorry. The elders ask for guidance from the society, they say delete him as a MS. the end. There was no court case or criminal activity at the time of the wrongdoing....
Then yrs later the victim brings suit against the perpetrator for the act and the society for concealing the confession.
I think the society will make local elders personally responsible in future cases and abandon them, which will in turn cause elders to rethink their positions.

OK I have to be crude here because it has pissed me off for > 20 years. What business do elders have in the bedroom of a married couple. NONE,. ZERO. It may seem off topic but it is not. Elders pry into matters that are not their concern, but dont get involved when they absolutely need to -as in protecting children. Surely to God, if a proeprly married couple engage in mutual oral sex or similar - how the hell is that the elders business?. And yet they will invoke the two witness rule and not protect a child -TOTALLY MIND BLOWING.

I think this as well. I called my JWgf last Friday to tell her of the case and judgement. I told her I was specifically concerned about her husband because the elders are after him to appoint him. I told her the society mandates what the elders do and say, but distance themselves from them. This will only get worse as the word spreads that this case was won. Other injured parties whether by sexual abuse or shunning, or whatever, (still needs to be a viable case of course), will bring their cases forward and show harm by the policies of the WBTS; they can refer to CC's case since it will now be in the law books

Some of these child molesters did not even have a judicial committee, it was handled by two brothers because it was considered uncleanness, like temporarily touching a breast of your girl friend. For an organization that claims to be God's channel and not know how God feels about child abuse pretty much sums up what else WT knows. Nothing.

Imagine having to confess to Satan after doing something like masturbating. Yes, Satan sees it. But it is no big deal--in fact, consensual sex is "free". This means gay people are free to have sex with each other, or in groups as they see fit. Gay, straight, bisexual, group--Satan is cool with it all. But, trying to use your religion to coerce children to "consent", and then force them to shut up about it is not cool. And worse is when the religion preaches about how dirty sex is (the real molestation happens at that point), then creates conflict with such deep-seated beliefs (death threats) by forcing sex on those children. This is not cool with Satan at all.
And, with all the big deal about regular sex and masturbation, where is the outrage about torture, slavery, and teachings that prevent people from freely researching other belief systems? The washtowel practices all the above (even if they pay lip service against them). Those are the things that Satan hates--torturing people simply because they have a different belief system, and preventing them from researching is enforced stupidity. And stupidity is the one thing Satan hates. Going after masturbation, porn, and even fornication (even if the fornication is gay sex) while looking the other way when someone coerces children into sex and threatens them after, after threatening their lives if they give in to sex, is just plain stupidity.

OSTS: As much as the Org sees things in black/white, right/wrong, good/bad, their whites are really dingy. It really revolves around what untruths they choose to be "true." And then they try to use bullsh!t as a whitener.
heathen: One of their most absurd mental gymnastics is when they reveal that their promises were untrue... 'but it was for your own good to keep you in watchful anticipation' for an armageddon that has never come "very soon now." Although it's true that there is lots of injustice in the secular court system, the public has a better chance to scrutinize and discuss a publicly conducted case. The secret proceedings of JCs create an environment typically and easily devoid of justice.
BalaamsA: Very true. That brought to mind the case of the baby and two women brought before Solomon. It was in public and put in the Bible to prove the wisdom of Solomon. Yet elders today handle their cases in private, secretly. Why? Because elders aren't smart enough to really impress anybody.

Instead, they have historically thrown the victims of child molestation under the bus because they protest the WT's unjust policies. nug: Great point. They put so much emphasis on "Is this person repentant," that if a person actually denies wrongdoing, JCs are inclined to decide, "He's obviously not repentant. DF him." When in fact, he might have done nothing wrong. Conversely, if the person bawls his eyes out and swears it will never happen again, the JC will decide, "He's repentant. We'll just give him private reproof because we're sure that he'll never sexually molest a child again." That's when the Society deserves to be sued into oblivion.

Rob222: As long as the Society holds to their instructions that BoEs are to contact WT Legal Department FIRST, it's going to be very hard for WT Corporation to wash their hands like they're the innocent party. And their typical reaction to the charge that "your secrecy is wrong" is simply to write policies requiring more secrecy. They just don't learn.
Stilla: It's not crude to say that what happens in the bedroom is at the discretion of the couple. I would have ventured there in my explanation, but it's outside my experience. As a single guy, the subject of masturbation is the 'crude' subject I have experience with. I'll just say that if a guy wants a healthy prostate, better sleep, and less stress, ignore the org's lousy advise, go ahead and masturbate. If a woman wants to understand her body and be able to teach a guy what rocks her world, ignore the org's lousy advise and go ahead and masturbate. Additionally, if a single guy like me gets his hot girlfriend to stay the night, I deserve congrats. If I get my fiancee pregnant, it's time for a party to celebrate, not a judicial committee.

Dag: Just a suggestion. If this guy is appointed an elder, make him promise that if he ever hears an allegation that someone has molested a child, he will call the police FIRST, ASAP. Warn him that the Society might remove him for not calling them first, but it is his duty as a Christian man to made certain that children are protected before caring about the demands of any Corporation.

When they consider child molestation as nothing more seriously evil than 2 consenting adults engaging in homosexuality, they completely lose sight of the fact that child molestation is criminal abuse of the children that they should be protecting. If the WTS. was smart now they would learn that child abuse or pedophilia is not just a simple sin like fornication or adultery, where all to
be done is wag a finger at a person and quote a couple of scriptures.
Its much worse and that is the reason why in are modern society its considered a grievous crime, worthy of severe punishment.
The WTS. could actually gain public support by issuing a doctrinal mandate that states that all possible occurrences of pedophilia are to be brought
forward to the local legal authorities, irregardless if the accused denies any wrong doing. This way they would clean their hands of any
involvement of hiding these people within their ranks.
Quite frankly with all the media and public attention concerning this crime in recent years, if a person was to commit this crime,
it would blatantly obvious that he or she would be intensionally hiding behind the two witness rule.
The policy set by the WTS. that all of their devoted members shouldn't bring reproach upon god's earthly organization, is one that was followed for
decades and alot of people were victimized and hurt without the perpetrators being justifiably punished as a result this doctrinal policy.
Will the WTS. wake up or will they try to continue to protect its outward public image by continuing on the same path, time will
only tell. Now that some very open media attention has occurred of the organization trying to cover over or do little
about these kind of problems within their organization, they may finally make some direct policy changes.
I hope they do !
Fornication or adultery should be designated as being sins, pedophilia should be designated as a grievous crime.
