There is an even higher price to pay than money. What happens when people stop donating? That could well cost them more than the settlement. Plus, there is going to be embarrassment for those stuck in field circus--now is not a good time to be doing that (even worse than the NBC Embarrassment the day before Thanksgiving 2007). They are going to be getting the cops called on them more, dogs sicced on, invited in much less, cancelled studies and calls, and a sharp drop in whatever they had been collecting from the territory.

From within, I doubt there is going to be much dropoff. If Raymond Franz couldn't bring down the Washtowel by exposing it (he did put out Crisis of Conscience), I don't think this is going to do it either. The Washtowel is great at hiding problems like this from the regular witlesses (who would otherwise go to another church, preferably one of spiritual Satanism, or no church at all). By playing it down while beating up on people for more donations, they act like nothing is happening and still go to their Kingdumb Hells and A$$embly Hells, and out in field circus.

Thanks for bringing that out skeeter 1. I guess I should have asked, does anyone know how much a bond will cost. So even appealing it will be a financial pinch.

The main players in this case are convinced that the WT cannot get out of it by a bond.

I would imagine that an attorney who has prosecuted dozens of cases like this with the Catholic Church would at least know that much and tell their clients as such, but this is not the case.

That's all I can say for now. We shall see.

They would typically have to post collateral for a bond in the amount of 1.5 x the value requested. I would guess that a few of their buildings in Brooklyn should cover that. The actual cost for the bond is closer to 2-3%
