Do you still believe that Yoga and Other Spiritual Activities are demonized?

My spouse and I both do yoga; since we did P90X. P90X has a day of yoga in each week; and some Yoga in many of the tapes. That's right, that body builder Tony Horton swears that he is so strong, not because of lifting weights, but because of Yoga. It is all about working muscles at various angles, using your body weight as resistance. It's the basis for isometric exercises. It builds tinsle strength of each & ever muscle fiber. Plus it completely stretches out your tendons and muscles.
It was what finally cured tendon injuries in my leg. This Fall, I will have for a mid-day, twice a week yoga class at the county rec center. I am really looking forward to it.
I think alot of people must have a "yoga is a religion" attitude. Tony Horton says in the video, "Look, this is just yoga. It's not a religion."
What I have read is that some groups treat yoga as a religion, and others do not. Sometimes, there are yoga cults. Where you think you have to do more, buy more, recruit more, etc.....
Now, the ohhms will freak out the JWs. My one semi-JW relative did a yoga tape with me. All was ok, and then when we got to the ohhms at the end, "Oh, I cnan't do these." Then, Tony Horton explained that they create vibrations in your belly & spine, a way to relax nerves. So, semi-JW did them. No demons came.
Namaste!

I quit!
I didn't believe it while I was a JW. I practiced some yoga the whole time I was in the Watchtower. I even did the Sun Salute...OMG! My wife who is still a JW bought me a new yoga mat about a year ago so I don't think they all believe that way. When I left the Watchtower and went to a fundamentalist church I found some of the same fearful attitudes that a lot of JWs had to things like yoga. Crazy isn't a Watchtower exclusive.
I agree with what Skeeter1 said about it building more strength than weight training. I can go to the gym 3 or 4 days in a row and work out pretty hard and feel fine then go to a vigorous vinyasa yoga glass and find my stomach, arms, and legs all soar the next day.
How much emphasis is placed on the spiritual aspects of yoga can vary from instuctor to intructor and from class to class. My friend who instructs at the church I attend places a lot of emphasis on meditation and chanting other classes I've been to can are mostly just the physical aspects of yoga. As usually religious fear superstition can keep someone ignorant about something that is good for them and that they may really enjoy.

Yoga, like any other activity that could potentially connect you with your soul, is forbidden by the witlesses. Connecting oneself with one's soul is forbidden because they want damnation for you. They serve their masters the angels, who want damnation for your soul.
The only meditation they allow is taking their version of things and pondering on them. Suppose I was in the cancer and they found I was practicing a different form of meditation. Brother Hounder would have a cow. Especially if I were to light a black candle and gaze into the flame, and especially if I placed a piece of paper in the flame with writing on it, and put it in a stainless steel bowl. Things like void meditation are good ways to activate your soul, and they would be pxxxed if I ever practiced void meditation at the boasting sessions or while waiting on a call in field circus.

Nope. I never really did believe that (with the exception of things like Tarot, Runes, etc). I do Yoga now and I love it. I sleep so well when I do it.

No, that never made sense to me. Yoga and other practices (tai chi, for example) can be practised as healing arts, and no religious connotations unless you want to 'go there'... the JW attitude is stuff and nonsense!
