I've had quite a bit of contact with those close to the Candace Conti legal team over the past week or so, and I am totally convinced that they have everything under control. They have sought advice from some very experienced individuals known to many of us long before the final verdict was read out. They have received far more by way of "evidence" than they actually needed, and were able to cherry-pick the most damaging of evidence to make the case stick. From what I can gather, Simons is a very adept and capable attorney who constructed a very robust case from the outset, lining all his evidence up perfectly, and using all people and resources at his disposal. Believe me, they're doing just fine without a JWN "committee" being formed. As and when Rick Simons needs help, he has a whole list of people whose knowledge and expertise he can call upon. The more I learn about the way Rick Simons has handled this case, the more impressed I am by his approach, and the more I admire his legal brilliance. The Watch Tower Society's legal department has finally met its match.

Best of wishes for you and anyone who does become actively involved in changing the WTBTS, but I agree with Black Sheep about getting former JWs to become actively involved in changing the WTBTS. I have tried with little success to get former JWs to support petitioning and writing politicians to support permanent legislative changes in the thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/226465/1/Its-Back-Round-2. First, welcome to the forum,Newbndreamz. I'm sorry I didn't catch that you were a new poster before.
Quendi: The thought that the WTS would be monitoring this site occured to me along with the notion that whatever we did would have to be done through private messages. Regardless of the details, I figured they would be put in place after the idea took off. Barbara Anderson was one of the first names to pop into my mind also.

irondork - yes, when you find out some of the details, it sends shivers down your spine at how well they did. The Society was really hung out to dry on this one. It's remarkable what can be achieved by a talented attorney and a plaintiff who isn't willing to accept a settlement.

I don't know if this is of any value, or if I remember the details correctly. Maybe it's just hearsay. But it sounds as weasel-like as something WT would do to protect their ca$h.
Over a decade ago, the Dominican Republic branch had a conflict with one of their neighbors about the property border. It turned out that Watchtower had built their property wall over onto the neighbors property. The DR corporation quickly transferred the property to the Penn corporation. The DR corporation lost a lawsuit with the neighbor but declared that they had no assets to pay the lawsuit they just lost. A buddy of mine told me that Mario Moreno bragged to him about that 'victory'. I'd like to see something like that come back and bite them in the ass.
