Watchtower Ruins a Wedding

Great post Marvin.
Some poor couples have had KH weddings ruined because "an undisclosed person in the wedding party is on private reproof and not in good standing"...so the bride is forced to uninvite one or more persons from being in the wedding party.- If it is PRIVATE reproof, how is she supposed to know?
Unless all members are in good standing the Hall may not be used for a wedding.

Jake,
What you are referring to is VERY common. A LOT of JWs do not know about the "forgiveness rules". Many an angry mate has had revenge sex with the EX one last time to make them "scriptually unfree".
The Homosexuality non-adultry policy was STANDARD POLICY pre seventies. We had a couple of young sisters divorce active homosexuals who were "not free" to re-marry because "homosexuality" and "Beastiallity" were not grounds for scriptural divorce.
If you look at the thread "Most disturbing Bethel experiences" I think you can put 2+2 together and figure out WHY some Bethelites in power felt those "bad habits" were not bad enough to get divorced over.

Sizemik,
I don’t know this couple personally so what eventually happened with them I don’t know. I do know they tried to claim damages under civil law for wrongful disfellowshipping. But as you know, that was a loser from the get-go. I have the court’s finding somewhere. As I recall they lost in the lower court and on appeal the finding was affirmed. I don’t think it even went to trial. If there’s enough interest I might scan and load the documents.
My guess is this couple moved on with their lives.
