Well....I have read Crisis of Conscience twice now. I have also been reading the Bible with wifey. We just completed John and have skipped to Romans. I am sorry to say but the Witnesses are absolutely correct on the whole Trinity thing. Just reading John one would never come away with Jesus being God. It kinda makes me want to go back. I am against the witnesses man made rules though. I just do not have the venom that some of you have here. I enjoyed my time as a witness for the most part. I have only faded not DFed or anything like that so I COULD go back. It is wrestling with my conscience right now. Wifey and I study a chapter of the bible a day. It has made things in clearer focus. I hardly ever read the Bible as an active witness. Too much time reading WT etc. Meanwhile a pastor is trying to get me to join his church. Such a confusing time. But at least I know more this time to make an informed decision.
Do you miss the sense of security the organisation gives you?

MF:I am sure most of you miss the sense of security regarding the future that the organisation offers- the certainty of everlasting life in the paradise earth, being healed and the confidence that you will definitely see your loved ones again if you remained faithful
Me: Well, I'm a regular here but I never entered the Watchtower coccoon. I continue to be a disinterested observer. The "promises" that the Watchtower offers, to my eyes, seem shallow. Like the offer of a lottery ticket that only stays valid as long as the Witness keeps paying. From what I see, people who buy in to a future deferred hope tend to put off taking care of life now. They may end up with paltry pension, bad teeth, or ever learned to play a guitar.
Whereas orthodox Christianity offers freedom from sin, a washed soul. So much richer.
A rational way of life offers rich imagination and freedom of choice.
Children in a secular home may pick extracurricular activities and a career that match their interest. Such a vital life!

What sense of security? That I didn't have to actually make decisions because they were made for me?
Your options for employment were limited, usually to crap paying, boring jobs. You never got to spend money on things that help you live rich after the money is spent, because they would make you emulate Jehovah and "Sac-ri-fice it". You never had any time to manage, since it is wasted pious-sneering. Spiritually, you never did anything because you wasted all your time deluding yourself into thinking you are growing when all you are doing is obeying the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger. The scumbags who wanted you to think of them as friends were more often enemies, praying for even more filthy angels to suppress you and prevent you from ever seeing happiness.
And godly "freedom(??)" is no better. Free to do what, waste my time in field circus? You got hounded for listening to nice music. Get a nice water filter (for fluoride), you get hounded for "materialism". Getting decent clothing (and decent here means that it is going to hold up instead of needing replacement in a year or so), decent LED light bulbs, calculators, a nice TV, or anything that enhances enjoyment of life is "materialism" or "attaching undue importance to material things, importance that belongs to Jehovah". I could imagine Brother Hounder seeing my LED lights--never mind the Christmas lights--and claiming that I am worshiping them instead of getting CFL's and worshiping Jehovah (never mind that even LED's are inferior to the biggest incandescent light in the solar system, the sun). Time is for field circus, your voice is exclusively to praise Jehovah, and so on.
If that is "security", I would rather subject myself to the "insecurity" of Father Satan. And if this is "freedom", the "tyranny" of Satan is far more bearable. At least this "insecurity" and "tyranny" comes from having to do your own thinking and making your own decisions. For instance, good clothing costs more but lasts longer, ending up saving me money. LED lights, though not perfect, are the closest to the sun of all the bulbs out there (incandescents are nowhere near as bright and are being phased out), and will last some 20 years instead of the 18 months' worth of headaches people are getting out of CFL's. And, I get to do my own thinking--maybe a tyranny and insecurity if you are too damn lazy to think for yourself, but true freedom for those of us who wish to think yourself.

Mr Facts, I would not want to live with rude people in the new system.

When I first left it came as a shock to face my own mortality and to realise the whole Noo system/Paradise thing was total hooey. The funny thing is that as time has passed I feel much more content within myself, I know what the future holds for sure, I will grow old and die, so will my children and grandchildren.
My wife misses the secure social network, and wishes she could believe in an Afterlife, I feel no such need (for either of those things).
The friends I have now are good non-judgemental people, an Afterlife would simply be a bonus, but I think a belief in one is often a restraint against living this life to the full.

..and having everything run by wt 'depts' filled by folk with no education and in many cases no knowledge except to ask someone else what to do.
One of the last meetings I attended mention was made that the 'resurection commitee' would get a directive to prepare (quarters i assume) for such n such who was to be resurrected on...
this is flying in the face and usurping the holy spirit....
I gasped at the effrontery of it all..
and for the many 'no sex' married sisters think about this. In the resurrection will come back in perfect health and youthful vigour many women who 'missed out' having sex and they will want to make up for lost time. You think your denied husbands wont stray or say 'Beat it! to you?

There was a time in the late 60s where it felt right sort of, we had a large part of our family 'in' but also my sisters who were not and that meant a certain alienation.

Do you miss the sense of security the organisation gives you?
WT doctrine is like a condom.......................
It gives you a false sense of security while being screwed.
(Screwed outta your money, screwed outta your time, and screwing up your life.)
