    Hi there wasblind,

I did the olive oil and lemon juice upon arising. 1/2 cup each and drink it down for gall stones. It was very hard to keep it down the first couple times. It did work.

Fresh lemon juice in a little warm water, first thing in the mornig, is a good way to keep this system healthy.

I aggree with Iamallcool , Healthy Healing is an excellent book.

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

Do some research on prilosec - how is it supposed to help a gall bladder problem?

If you want to take choline, get yourself some soy lecithin capsules.

I am neither a doctor or a shaman.

Yes, Lecithin is very good, I did that too.

Thanks, Nathan, I forgot that bit.

I stopped the Lecithin once the gall bladder was better, but I've kept on with much of the dietary pattern, in moderation. That's the difference between what I did and the flush, which is more extreme and which I didn't do.

Dietary changes such as I described above will cure all but the most extreme gall bladder problems.

Do be careful with the flush. It is NOT safe if the problem is a large gallstone.

You should definitely get an ultrasound to see what size your stones are (or if you have any to begin with). Prilosec is, from my understanding, a heartburn and indigestion medication. Galls stones are caused by bile sitting in your gall bladder and forming crystals because it's not being used regularly like it should (low fat dieting and pregnancy are major culprits). That's what happened to me. On looking at the ultrasound results, they found I had 5 large stones the approximate size of nickels. So surgery really was my only option. If your stones are the size of BB's, I wouldn't wait too long to get something done about it...they can get lodged and then you'd need emergency surgery...when they get stuck, they can result in severe illness and death. So it's not really something you want to play with.

If you do need the surgery, they do it laprascopically. I only have one scar in the middle of my abdomen that's faded and isn't really noticeable. They go in through 5 small incisions. It didn't take long at all to recover.

I had my gall bladder out after my youngest was born. I lost a lot of weight while I was pregnant, and I guess fast weight loss is a trigger for gall bladder problems. I had several episodes of severe pain before Just Ron made me go to the emergency room. They made me stay in the hospital for 3 days before my pancreas had settled down enough to be able to have the surgery. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything - not even water in order to allow my pancreas to recover because apparantly one of the stones had migrated down and blocked the duct from my pancreas. Anyway - the surgery was easy peasy and they let me out of the hospital around noon on a Tuesday. I went to book study that night and felt fine. It's been nearly 5 years and so far I haven't missed having a gall bladder at all.

I went to a Specialist at Stanford. He told me to "give the poor thing a rest". Cut out all saturated fats, eat small bland food and drink A LOT of pure water for a week and see what happens. No JUNK food, booze or juicy hamburgers. I felt better in a couple of weeks without any meds.

Yes, cut out all saturated fats, but you need good fats which is the point of the best quality olive oil. Olive oil will soften smaller gallstones. The apple juice provides choline which heals the gall bladder. The natural source is always better than pills.

Do NOT do anything if you have big gallstones except put yourself in the hands of a doctor. I concur with what Morbidz says.

The natural approach worked for me and was entirely safe and permanent because I made long-term dietary changes.

I take Prilosec daily for indigestion and have been taking it for several years. But when Prilosec stopped helping me I thought that I had gallbladder problems. I eventually went to the Doctor and had a full abdominal ultrasound. Found out that my spleen was enlarged and also some lymph nodes. The doctor sent me to an oncologist and I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. So don't let your condition go without getting it checked out. Mine was a stage 4 already. But of all of the cancers, Lymphoma is one of the easiest to control. Just get yourself checked out.
