    Howdy guys and gals!

Aren't Jehovah's Witness child baptisms lovely?

    http://www.jehovahswitnessblog.com/baptism/child-baptisms/

    Yes, they really are.

The picture in the article doesn't make you think "CULT", does it? Of course not because Jehovah is lovely, just lovely...

There's a massive difference between a baby and a 7 year old getting baptised. Any rational human being can see that...

    Face palming all the way.

    Regards,
    Jaymes

Witnesses know that Jesus was baptized at 30 years of age. If anyone and I mean anyone that would have understood commitment it would have been Jesus. But as we know Jesus parents did not drag him to the river to be baptized at a tender age of 4-17

No, he was baptized when he fully was aware and developed understanding of what it meant to serve God. If j-dubs claim to be followers of Jesus then you would think they would follow his steps closely since we cannot do it perfectly. And perform baptisms on adults not children.

OH!!! I'm sorry j-dubs don't don't follow Jesus or Jehovah, they follow 7 MEN in Brooklyn N.Y. Known as the GOVERNING BODY,And the spewings of the Watchtower which is written by MEN.

This is, in my opinion, a direct result of the witnesses massive failure to retain their young people. Better to baptise them very early in the hope of keeping them trapped.

In the old days, it was considered extremely odd for a child to be baptised before they were at least in their late teens. The witnesses used to actually make the point that the child had to be of an "age of accountability".

Seven years old is manifestly not accountable.

So this is a picture at a convention? So what country has jws dress this way for a baptism?

Looks more like another religion. I have seen the men doing the baptism in swim shorts and white t-shirts and females with swimsuits with t-shirts but these outfits remind me of some protestant religions.

But I agree that jw children as young as 6 have been baptized. I figure that the WTS advises against young marriages and the secular government has limits on age for driving, signing contracts, etc.

Blondie makes an excellent point - they would have a child do this when they are far too young to marry or drive a car?

The picture does say cult but I don't think it is picture of a JW baptism. Which of course makes it another win for the dubs being able to point the finger at "apostate" lies. That being said I do think it is wrong for a 7 yo to make that decision. I was 18 and don't think I knew what I was getting into.

*** w11 6/15 p. 6 Should Youths Get Baptized? ***A Christian mother writes: “Children who are baptized have more reasons to stay away from the bad things of the world. My son, baptized at 15, feels that baptism is a protection. ‘You don’t think about doing something contrary to Jehovah’s law,’ he said. Baptism is a strong motivation for righteousness.”

*** w06 7/1 pp. 29-30 par. 16 Youths, Make It Your Choice to Serve Jehovah ***Numerous Witnesses around the world feel that their decision to get baptized when they were young helped them greatly. Take as an example a 23-year-old Witness in Western Europe. He recalls that getting baptized at the age of 13 motivated him to be careful not to be swept away by “the desires incidental to youth.” (2 Timothy 2:22) Early on, he set his sights on serving as a full-time minister. Today, he serves happily at a branch office of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Rich blessings await all youths, including you, who choose to serve Jehovah.

*** w87 4/15 p. 13 par. 14 Gaining Peace With God Through Dedication and Baptism ***If one has ‘counted the cost,’ it places one at no disadvantage to make a dedication as a youth. With almost all new Christians, after baptism appreciation deepens. “Getting baptized as a youngster was a protection for me,” explained David. “As I got older, I noticed how some unbaptized teenagers in the congregation felt free of the authority of the elders and as a consequence veered into bad conduct. But I always remembered that I had dedicated my life to God. My life was already taken, so I could not follow such teenagers.”
