Two video stores in my town closed down, but at least I have my Blockbuster video store! $30 a month and I can get 2 movie at a time all month. Yesterday I returned my movies and found they had closed, and a downsized Civic Dvd store has taken over at $6 per new movie!!!
Any ideas who "killled the DVD star?"

I use to go to video stores all the time years ago. I refuse to hire movies anymore.
If I see a new film coming out that I think I might like, I check out preview clips, if I like what I see I check out Amazon, ebay or wait for a Target or Kmart special to come out and buy it.
With the cost to buys DVD's these days, it's a waste of money to hire them so it's not surprising video stores are closing. Every video store in my area also has tables full of DVD's for sale now, that's where they make most of their money, selling dvd's as well as snacks, drinks and ice creams.
new technology and redbox. why rent movies from a physical store when they can be downloaded, streamed via netflix, or picked up for a dollar at a redbox machine?
Netflix and Redbox do not exist in Australia, however people are watching alternatives or just downloading torrents.
Any movie is available for download 1 or 2 days after it is released on DVD. Sometimes sooner.

Actually this is quite common throughout North America
Amazon Prime. 80.00 a year. All the movies that and series that were on Netflix have moved to Amazon. And their rentals for one day are quite reasonable.
Don't fall into the trap to download torrents. You may end in prison. If you want to download an illegal copy then do it with an attitude!
