I actually checked the sex offender registry for White County, Illinois and there is at least one offender listed where the male was 17 and the victim was 15. It may well have been an actual rape, but it's not possible to tell from the registry. There is also one offender listed in Union County, Illinois marked as a "MURDERER", but the crime was actually committed in 1964. He was 19 and his victim was 17. I have to wonder at the value of a registry that only has one offense to list that occured over 50 years ago. I'm all for easy public access of all court records, because I'm a nosy, judgemental old hag with nothing of her own to hide, but the current registry doesn't seem to be all that helpful.

This is an argument for those that don't understand the concept of war. The idea of the WT fading off into the sunset and everyone living happily ever after is a pipe dream. If you want to break the cycle, innocent people will be hurt or wrongly accused. Some who have spent their entire lives in ignorance will spend their last breaths knowing their lives were in vain. Others may be unable to handle the truth and commit suicide.
There is always a price to be paid.

Razziel, you are so right. It is war. Just an amazing few from within have stood up for us victims! Please just let this run its course. Has the organisation ever worried about its innocent victims? No! This is now theocratic warfare against them! Let our allies help in this worldwide war of corruption and illegal activity.

P.s. those WT files are only the tip of the iceberg. Many cases with victims in early teans were handled as "Pornia", or "Fornication" or "Homosexuality" because the VICTIMS were "at an age of reason" (old enough to be baptized) and didn't SCREAM . THESE victims were never reported as Child molesting.

I read a book for a while and can't believe what happened -- unless it is all the argument! Is it actually happening? The WT is affected?
I think releasing info is a very bad idea. Anyone can accuse anyone of anything without proof. I have yet to hear any justification for keeping such a list since elders are independent contractors, which is prob. true legally. It would be nice if someone posted that Bethel said a bland, They are independent Ks. Nevertheless, we are very concerned for the safety of children.
Innocent people's lives could be totally destroyed. Is any crime more reprehensible to any society? If the files were filtered to the proper legal authorities or even a neutral commission and such agency actually investigated the allegations, it would be much better.
The named have no forum to clear themselves. Sensational stuff is always on the first page. Retractions are lost in a little box that one never reads in the middle of the newspaper. Libel and slander laws exist for good reasons.
I understand the frustration. Hopefully, society, in general, will decide to take pedophile enforcement more seriously. The social utility of confession laws should be discussed again. Modern society is not so tolerant of pedophiles.
Can you imagine any human with such a database (if it exists) just sitting on it. Please, I beg someone, to explain the legitmate reason for the database. They are not responsible under current law. Why maintain a database when you have no liability. What is going on? I think it is only a control issue.
Hopefully, elders will see the consequences to themselves. Has the time truly come to become an outlaw? Maybe, if there a showing that every other effort failed. This action will be catastrophic to society in the end.

Yeah, Balamsass. Ten years old and it was my fault!....How confusing. I got in trouble for being raped by teenage boys. They denied it, I didnt. No witness. Does it matter if I am a male? Like i planned the whole thing. Ugh.

I don't want to reignite the debate about whether the list should be released. The fact is that this might happen whether we want it to happen or not. If it is released, I'm hoping that the XJW community can exert a positive influence on how it is used. I'm certainly in favor of sharing it with law enforcement. I think it would also be appropriate to check if any on the list are serving in positions of authority. If so there should be pressure to have them removed, at least long enough for there to be a proper investigation by police.
We should also refrain from jumping to the conclusion that they must be guilty, since there will likely be some innocent people on the list. I've stopped trusting conclusions from the Watchtower Society a long time ago, especially in matters of child abuse.

Whatever files the WTBTS has the true number is 2-3xs that many. I have seen cases where 6 children have testified against an abuser and he is appointed as an overseer a few years later if he moves from the circuit!!!!!!!!!!!
