On the back cover of the April 8 issue of Awake! is a little story about two teenagers 'caught' praying at MacDonalds.

Apparently the two teenagers felt the need to explain to an onlooker that they were praying to a 'different' God, or in the words of the article "not just any God".

I'm curious, which God was this? Are there many Gods to pray to? Do the JWs pray to a different God? The article states they were praying to the God who is identified in the book Knowledge That Leads to Eternal Life.

So I assume they were praying to a different God to the one who is prayed to by Christians as the God of the Bible.

The magazine invites its readers to get to know this God the two teenagers were praying to by obtaining a copy of the book mentioned above. Why not the Bible?

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

Because they are right, it is a different god they pray to,
and his name (Strong's) means god of mischief.

Praying to the God "who is identified in the book 'Knowledge That Leads to Eternal Life'".

They were praying to a publishing company?

Yeah.. and our prayers are not to be boasted...

BTW, here in the south US, it is not uncommon to find folks praying over their meals.

The Jehovah of the Watchtower Society is not the Jehovah of the Bible.

I've noticed this on my business trips down there. Freaky, to say the least. But, I guess it's were dubya comes from, so...explains a lot...

I've certainly never seen it happen up here in Yankee territory (from the fine state of Ohio, myself)

No kidding he's not the same Jehovah of the bible. The Jehovah of the bible would have already sent a scourge, invading army, flaming fireballs, floods, or any other effective means of mass-murder upon humanity by now. Too bad he's sleeping right now - nothing like a little mass-murder to start the day!

Scourges, invading armies, floods, etc. still are with us today.
And I'm sure people still see Jehovah as the source. But is that what Jehovah really does? Or is that man's perception of what they think Jehovah does? Doesn't modern man still have the same viewpoint as the Old Testament writers? When someone dies, some say: "God took him away." Natural disasters: "That's the wrath of God or his punishment for sin." And man still has his "holy wars" with God on their side. When I read the whole Bible, however, I don't come to that viewpoint about Jehovah.

Well, if there is a Jehovah, and he had a hand in writing the bible, then apparently he doesn't taking credit for mass-murderer even if as you say he didn';t really do it. Since that about all they say he did back then, was killing lots of people - (aside the occasional having his prophets eat human dung, or living inside fish bellies)
