My ex-wife promptly reported me to the elders when she saw some book markes to some sites about 607 vs 587/586 BC for the destruction of Jeruselem.

Two elders grilled be about it, I simply told them that I was doing research because I wanted to understand the difference between the two dates.

They then asked me the question... "How do you feel about the truth?"

I told them; "I beleive it's the truth"

I didn't even have to lie. I do believe the truth is the truth! Just not their version of what they think is truth. hahahahaha

The real question is .... why would a person turn in their own spouse, knowing full well the implications of such action, the strain on the marriage should a spouse get DF'd?

Only a guess here, since I don't know your friend, but it is possible this was a way "out" of the marriage for her.

A cousin of mine had a similiar experience. He married his high school sweetheart, they became witnesses together, were married some 17 years, then she developed a mental illness, he spent thousands of dollars trying to get her treated, but in the end she left him and moved in with a "sister." He waited 18 months for her, but during that 18 mionths do you think the elders were there encouraging him? hah!

He got depressed, not to mention certain urges, and he comitted adultery with a co-worker, he felt so bad that he had sinned, that he went to the elders and with tears of remorse in his eyes confessed his sins .... they disfellowshipped him anyway, even though the deed was done only once. They notified his estrange wife and she divorced him on the grounds of adultery. When last I spoke to him, he was still going to meetings trying to get back into good graces with the elders.

I think your Mom is just another blessed beneficiary of the faith-based scientists at Watchtower Laboratories - although plain text email is incapable of delivering a computer virus, it CAN deliver a piping-hot deemon right to your ocular interface!

    Oh my!

Are you sure? I thought you had to have at least html-enabled email to get a demon...

Stealth: I'm not surprised at all. Isn't it funny how unfair the WTBTS really is? The instant you question their beliefs you get the boot. Lovely. Oh yeah, did we tell you that the WTBTS is God True Organization? If that's true, then I don't think I like God all that much!

the inconsistency in "judgements" by different BOE's is veri interesting..

hard to see god's consistent judgements in operation?

They class me as inactive, and I still attend on a Sunday even though I know that it is a load of Bull####.

I do it so as to support my wife who still wants to be a Dub.She will criticise it no end, but loyally support it.

Perhaps your friend needs something familiar in his life right now he has lost so much, been let down by his wife, what else would he do?

The inconsistancy is true, I have been telling elders of three congs some home truths, but none seem to wanrt to take action; at least not yet . I await something anytime.

I would told them to kiss my rectum and any thing else that is of an overt nature in that same vicinity. Its that Gestapo tactic that makes want to puke. Tin Man

I hardly think this person was df'd for being on the internet. What did he tell the elders was the reason for his visiting 'apostate sites'? If he was just curious, they would simple warn him away. Df'ing someone for apostasy (assuming the person does not want to be df'd and this person seems to fit that category) is not like df'ing someone for smoking or adultery. It's more like trying to df someone for greed or malicious gossip. You have to establish a pattern and the person has to basically refuse to stop what he or she is doing. Evidently there is more to the story than a wife going to the elders and telling them that hubby visited H2O.

I know the feeling that women have about being nervous because their husbands are doing things like watching x-rated stuff with the children, etc., because my ex did exactly that. However, all the elders care about that is that it puts a reproach on their cult. When I left my ex after a while, because he had a serious money management problem, and we were out on the street more that living anywhere, the elders told me that I had to take him back, but I didn't think I wanted to do that, because he did not have the mind to be a halfways decent husband and father. So this went on for about 7 months, with him harrassing me, and the elders condoning his harrassment, and so I moved out, going to meetings at another congregation, and moving around so he couldn't find me. During this time, he would not let our son live with him, because he was kicked out of the congregation where we were at the time I left him, but he did get our son a place to live in a house with a bunch of homosexuals, where our son was harrassed every day, with the homos saying things like, "your gey and you know it" etc. I didn't know what to do, except buy him a car so he could get away from his dad, and away from the homos. For me it was touch and go for awhile, but finally I bought myself a trailer, had it pulled out into a place where it took him a long time to find it, but he never harrassed me after that. He was living with a fellow bro at that time, for a year, and when the bro got married, my ex moved out, and took my son to WI with him, where my/our son got married, and he is doing well; my ex told him, at his grandpa's funeral, to tell me that I was scripturally free to remarry, because he was DF for having an affair with a worldly woman. I guess if you do it with another JW, it's not as bad as if you do it with a not-JW. My land sake, what the heck is this??
