Can You See How Idiotic The JW Religion Now Is?

I was just explaining the Shunning to an aquaintaince and she was stunned. She kept asking me "how can they do that and be Christians? What would Jesus do? Would Jesus act that way"? That is such a common response when I have explained the JW approach. People are so unaware of how JWs treat their own, it is surprising.

The clamp down on their own non-Biblical rules can be frightening. A lot of these abuses of power come when the miscreant is one holding "priviliges", like Minimus' Mum...

Elders I have known have been removed for "Providing a wedding feast for an unscriptual family wedding" ( His late-twenties daughter was re-marrying and had not been near to a K Hall in years) ....also one deleted for using discretion as to the age at which his daughter should have a steady boyfriend....in breach of The Society's advice on the matter

    Found Sheep posted above:

"a "new" baptized sister about 70 DF'ed because her care giver was a male and he stayed the night"

That is crazy! We once had similar case in our congo. We, the BOE, chuckled and ignored it . She was well past the age of any Yo Ho Ho!

I've been on both sides of the shunning fence. Looking back on it now, what amazes me is not that I shunned others at the organization's behest, but that I agreed with its stance when I was shunned! How sick is that? It was only when I realized that the organization's claims of divine support were a lie that I understood how wrong the entire approach is. To me, this is proof of how powerful the Society's grip on Witnesses is.

Some of you may recall, dinner with family members

that were none JW,s and my brother and his wife (elder).

My aunt thinking, keep the family togather since see is the

last of the aunts and uncles. She did not realize the feast she

would prepare, they wuold not eat it because of my presents.

Well this past weekend we were visiting her because A cousin

was in town, A minster from back east. My aunt mention the

the dinner . It was so funny trying to explain why they did not

    eat.

Cousin; So they set doing the entire meal without eating A

    bite.

Aunt: yes, because jam(me) was here.

Cousin: So what will happen if jam where at A restaurant and

they came in to eat and saw him, would they leave.

My cousin and my brother grew up togather, same age.

My cousin; Iam going to visit him the next time when I come out here.

Me; He may not welcome you into his home, you are A minster the

    leader of Satan organization.

    Cousin: are you serious?

    Me; serious as heart attack.

Sounds alot like the idea in the military where there's so many rules, that no one can possibly be "perfect". Hence superiors can use enforcement of any minute infraction they find to justify drumming someone out. No doubt many political power plays in all churches: that's what people do. Elders body is just another Good Ol' Boys club.

When people can't decide for themselves what to do in a certain situation but have to consult publications or write "the Society" then it is very ridiculous. Can you imagine asking if you can eat Turkey on the 4th Thursday in November?

Mini how is your mom reacting to this? I know you have been taking it easy with her because of her age etc. Has she made any comments on this to you?

Ooops, posted this in the wrong thread: it belongs here (shunning):

JWs face a tough decision when it comes to whether or not to shun their own children who've been DFed.

If they DO shun, they make God "Very Happy" BUT they lose on having a relationship with their children, possibly for an eternity.

If they DON'T shun, they make God "Very Sad" and face a eternity in Hades, being conscious of nothing (think of it as a permanent time-out). But they don't lose a relationship with their children in the here and now.

Being that JWs don't believe in Hell, the decision is made a bit more difficult than for a Catholic , i.e. JWs don't expect to be punished to eternal torment for sinning (much less on account of siding with their own offspring)! Instead, JWs expected to be dead, killed in Armageddon, which is similar to death experienced by anyone on the Planet who dies today with no expectation of resurrection or reincarnation: there's no awareness, nada, nothing. You just don't exist.

HOWEVER, if they DO shun their children, they win an ETERNITY in paradise! Frolicking with friendly lions, engaging in satisfying physical labor, and above all: having good, clean family fun! Think of it like going to Epcot Center/Disneyworld, except living there for an ETERNITY!

You should be able to see that for a JW, the decision is heavily-biased in favor of REWARD, while the reduced penalty of PUNISHMENT (compared to say, a Catholic, who believes in Hell and eternal torment). That imbalance can induce some guilt in the parent (or, it SHOULD...).

Hence the JW's decision not to shun is similar to deciding to turn down a really great vacation to Epcot (for an eternity) in order to stay home with that family member, vs leaving the family member behind so YOU can go to Epcot (but you will never see them again). "See ya', wouldn't want to be ya'!!"

Now THERE'S a loverly message of conditional love that ANY parent should be sending to their children: "I love you, really, but if it means I have to forego MY eternity in paradise, then sorry, but you're on our own; it's every man for themselves..."
