    Terry:

1.Is there really a "rich benefactor" in the sky?

    mP:

yes there is, its called the Sun. It gives us warm, makes the plants grow, feeds the birds, basically everytrhing said by jesus or about him is also true of the sun.

I went around for many years feeling like I was holding the Watchtower's I.O.U.'s and sought to determine a way to "collect".

    I was angry.

I wrote many a "lashing out" article or post.

After awhile I came to the conclusion they were collecting on me!

The POWER I was allowing them to still hold on my emotions was a debt I couldn't seem to stop paying on!

Now I bear half the responsibility. I invited the Barbarians into my own city.

If there is any cleaning up to do---I'm the only one who can do it.

Unfortunately this is the hardest part for people wanting to rid themselves of the burdening debt the WTS. places on to people.

Over time though they do succeed and learn a valuable lessen about the power of fear and guilt in controlling peoples thoughts and emotions.

    Mallcop:

I too am 67 but by the year 1969 I had already been publishng (Publicly Spreading Lies) 19 years baptized pre-puberty at the age of 10.

My problem is that when 1975 came and went, I continued to write my own bad checks thinking that we were going through a weeding out process.

I still go to the hall 3 times per month with my wife. Part of her expectations in marrying me was that I was a very active JW. So, I compromise because I feel she should be allowed the chance to quit when she's emotionally ready. Three meetings at age 67 is a guaranteed 6 hour nap time.

The only time I open my eyes is during the prayer. I like to watch people talking to non-existent entities.

I wonder what my life would have been like without my sojourn in stupid land. But, I realize that whatever life I have it's my life. I have one more check to cash - that I will see this thing unravel before I die.

Terry: Thanks for the thought provoking analogy.

The Watchtower writes bad checks. But, no wonder - the Bible is a book of expired coupons.

Watchtower loyalty is the religious equivalent of patriotism. "My country, right or wrong."

So, it is more a question of "My religion, right or wrong."

Rigid acceptance of the claims made for the bible is super patriotism. "I'll defend it to the last drop of my blood.

And what is lost in all of this mindless loyalty? Any appreciation for nuance or the possibility that something is awry with the claims or reputation.

What is TRUE must conform to reality no matter how much we LOVE the untruth.

That is the test for intellectual honesty: Willingness to be wrong if the facts go against you.

Without that fearless hunger for honest proof we are mere unwitting dupes of people using us to further their dark agenda.

Reading that made me think of all the scam emails I get, which amount to the same thing. Somebody has $945,406,939,405 sitting in a bank account in some country you never heard of and they'll send it to me if I give them all my bank information.

The WTBS is just a big ponzi scheme.

Jehovah's Witness gravitas begins with claims of the bible.

That the majority of the people who eventually become JW are already deeply invested with Bible Belief is unquestionable.

The JW razzle dazzle starts with simple demonstrations. Watchtower doctrine is PURE and christendom has been falsely interpreting scripture.

Once you see how easily certain bible passages have been corrupted, the next stage of collateral building commences.

A better deal is offered than you get with "retail" religion!

No Hell and life in Paradise are very appealing.

Free bible study, warm offers of love at the Kingdom Hall and a lifesaving work replace onCe a week churchgoing passivity.

All of the above amount to CREDIBILITY in getting you to accept the LARGE I.O.U. purportedly offered by Jehovah.

Say the magic word : Jehovah. Accept the Governing Body as faithful and discreet slave and go door to door for a very short time.

That is when the PAYOFF comes (seemingly very fast) for all of these baby steps: Armageddon survival!

But, the dates previously set amounted to more of a fart in an elevator than the trumpet blast of an Archangel.

They JW's don't pay up. The GB doesn't pay up. The Watchtower corporation won't pay up (unless you win a lawsuit) and, no, Jehovah doesn't pay up either.
