To think we all wasted time reading all those articles.
The articles about animals or the enviroment were the worst, they always seemed to say something like 'there are only 17 rhinos left, but even if they should become extinct, due to mans' inability to watch even his own step, Jehovah knows what is going on. In his own due time, he will bring about a new earth, soon.'

If anyone believe this then next time they need to see a doctor they should call Watchtower Society and ask them to recommend someone they can see that didn't go to medical school but instead learned their doctoring through the Watchtower Society. Witnesses spend their whole lives benefiting from the education of those who weren't Watchtower educated but instead got a real education.

I'm almost done with my engineering degree and I was offered to complete my education at the New York Bethel instead of my current educational institution (before I discovered this site).
I was never on the right page with the society when it comes to education, so I answered that I'll think about it, but I had already rejected it in my mind. There's no reason for me to think that it wasn't some sort of trick.

"Jehovah's organization provides the best education..."
It's the same thinking used to make them think their elders are superior to life-saving doctors: the MDs can merely save the mortal life, but the elders can offer everlasting life. Same spiel, different subject (WT offers an education that leads to everlasting life). M'kay.

Yup, I remember one paper I wrote in elementary school on the Kodiac bear, using an Awake article as my main source. On retrospect, it probably would've been safe just to lift the entire article, word-for-word, since the WT probably jumbled the sentences from whatever secular publication they plagarized.

UNIVERSITY EDUCATION--ADVANTAGEOUS ???
" Most pioneer ministers support themselves with part-time work. But what if later on you need to support a family ?? Surely one would never regret devoting one's youthful years to God's service !!! ________Young people ask book page 175
ALTERNATIVES TO UNIVERSITY EDUCATION
" Many christian youths have decided against a university education. Many have found that the training offered in congregations of Jehovah's witnesses---The weekly Theocratic Ministry school in particular---has given them a real edge in finding employment."_____Young people ask book page 178

Well, while the organization can't provide the equivalent of a college education, that doesn't mean there aren't highly educated individuals still in its ranks. Some years ago, I believe it was back in '05 or '06, Awake! did a series on evolution. What was interesting were the quotes from different scientists who were employed at the Max Planck Institute. The quoted scientists were all Witnesses, which Awake! took pains to point out.
I found that amusing because while the organization was proud enough to point out the high level scientists among rank-and-file Witnesses, I noticed that it was silent on the fact that it has been at endless war with higher education and these Witnesses had obtained their doctorates without and despite the WTS. "Clearly," to use the Society's newly favored qualifying word, cognitive dissonance was at work!

Anyone have a link to that article on evo? I'd love to tear it apart...
If it was anything like the evo publication I saw a few years ago, they cherry-picked quotes from famous evolutionists to support a conclusion those they quoted would disagree with. At least they had the integrity to mention the quotes were from sources who disagreed with their conclusion, perhaps counting on no one bothering to read the footnotes...
