    I would like to suggest to any elders on board to get out while they have the chance.

    Diamonddiz, You hit on an important point. The attorneys for the Watchtower (both JW and non) need to be sued for their part in the conspiricy to protect pedophiles. Once one case is won the legal prescident wiil be set for the rest. I can't wait for the Watchtower to continue to bleed $$$$$$$$$

    I think that where the WTS is exposed is in situations where 1)they were aware that an elder was abusing kids yet allowed him to continue and 2) where they delete someone for child abuse then reappoint that individual at some point in the future to a position of authority. By elder, I also mean CO, DO, special pioneer,or missionary.

    I wonder how the service desk makes decisions on whether to delete someone or reappoint someone? I know the locals make recommendations that are signed off by the CO but in a reappointment situation, wouldn't the service desk have access to the "database" and have full knowledge of what the individual did?

    Does the person on the service desk have the authority or do they have to confer with a branch committee or something? I know the appointments/deletions of elders remain a branch specific task so the main organization isn't involved.

    I could really see individual BOEs and likely COs having the most exposure. The case would need to be clear cut like the Lynn case in order to get a criminal conviction.

    I think its an overall positive development. If a person's sense of right and wrong doesn't force them into action, maybe the threat of jail time will do it.

    Doubting Brother;

    I agree. Take a look at "Watchtower Documents" Barbara Anderson's WEB- SITE. Bottom right are PDFs of the 2007 Court Documents & settlements (Pedophia in an American Religion). The correspondance between the Congregation Elders, Circuit Overseer, District Overseer and Bethel is facinating.

    It is beyond my comprehension that anyone who believes in righteousness, or a god, could after reading testimony of child victims.. decide to REVERSE an earlier decision and print the changes in the NEW FLOCK book!!! To even consider "appointing a Pedophile to a position "after a few years". WOW.

    Perhaps they could not believe the book would get released onto the internet. Those statements are like gasoline next to a fireplace.

    Moral highground..I think not.

    Mind Blown, Something to think about. The Penn. case above some clergy is hiding at the Vatican.....Perhaps the Governing Body will need to forget moving to upstate NY and enlarge a facility in the Bahamas.

    I don't know if GB actually deals with database or is it administered by legal dept, in which case they are the ones who should be charged with obstruction of justice and any other law that would partain to their crimes. When elders call wts regarding pedophiles, they don't speak to GB members but they speak to legal dept who tell them how to behave, and obstruct justice in many cases.

    Does anyone know how the prosecutors worked around the statute of limitations on this case? Was it considered continous?

    It would seem obvious that any elder who knowingly and willfully conceals a pedophile's identity from Caesar, and which peodophile goes on to repeat his crimes after such concealment, is liable to prosecution.

    ... and they can count on being thrown under the bus by their loving brothers in Brooklyn/Patterson.
