Recently. a pioneer said to me: " I can't wait to be persecuted!!!"

That kind of thinking is absolutely fanatical.

The pioneer said this not long after the visit from the C.O.

What crazy, outrageous, or fanatical comments have been uttered to you by a JW?

Well, it doesn't count as persecution if you want it: desiring it invalidates the suffering, because you're admitting it's not really suffering, at all.... In fact, it's ENJOYABLE.

Isn't it like Jesus' words at Mark 9:35?

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."

I hope that sister gets her wish. But what she doesn't realize is that the persecution is going to come from her own spiritual brothers and sisters.

Looking back at my own experiences, it's really is sad how twisted those old curmudgeons left so many of us.

I was thinking that perhaps that sister that you mentioned, was thinking to herself that the only way she'll be able to silence all of her nagging doubts about end not coming, and finally confirm that there is some REAL spiritual backing, behind this treadmill she has been living on, is to be persecuted. Because no way could everything she had been brought up to believe be a lie. How pathetic, how sad, I really do kinda feel sorry for the people that just can't see things for what they really are...

And here's the irony: some of them would say the same exact thing about you, and all of us. The human mind's need to tell itself it's not wrong is amazing, isn't it?

No argument there KS; but I put the bulk of blame on those who have twisted the scriptures to make it a taboo thing to consider any other information outside of the self-referencing dogma of the WTS. I know I had to really go through a lot of sh1t before I even had the courage to ignore that council and start looking at other outside information.

Yup, they didn't name this year's convention "safeguard your heart" for nothing, I suppose.... Typical Orwellian move, renaming an activity to that which is isn't (and if truth-in-advertising applied to religions, it would be called "safeguarding your GB" instead).

Kojacks57- She's a sweet sister. I am worried for her. She is well-treated and loved by all in the Congregation.

Tootired2care- She wasn't raised as a Witness and has no idea about all the failed prophecies, child abuse, and lies from the WTS.

    She's maybe baptized 4 years.

KSol- I think the latest visit from the C.o. made a deep impression on her. Maybe? he likened persecution= testament of one's faith. Or maybe? because she had read "Facing the Lion" and was impressed with Simone A. Liebster's story.

Anyway, she wants to prove her faith is strong.

I just never heard anyone say anything like that, ever. And was wondering if any others had heard a similar statement recently.

She is such a trusting person. The opposite of me. I didn't trust anyone. And yet, here I AM!!!!!!!!!
