This is a great read for those interested in an exhaustive work in recent times on the subject.

It may be available in PDF or Kindle by now?

I would like to hear from anyone interested and also Leolaia and Doug Mason.

Well due to overwhelming response I will comment myself in case anyone happens by this thread again. I was quite humbled by this body of work on the part of this research group. Gunnar's name went on the book but he gives due credit to several researchers who assisted him in the multi-year study of the subject.

The conclusions reached echoed comments made earlier by another poster on this site that stated while many claim they know what type of instrument was used in Jesus death, we simply don't know. Crucified yes, according to reliable history and eyewitnesses, but exactly what it looked like, is another matter. Neither scripture, nor secular history or archeology support a definitive conclusion. To use upright stake as the proper instrument of Jesus death as the only possible means was irresponsible if uninformed on the part of WTB&TS. Some supporting and biased works may have been used at the time they adopted this belief? Probably and likely. However, but to make the distinction that Jehovah's witnesses adopted in the past on this subject, does not hold up to the scrutiny of scholarly investigation. It was all about making an organization distinct from main stream Christendom ...purely and simply. Some JWs may suggest well it was "by Holy Spirit that this truth was made known". Well, all I can say is goody for you! This mans work in behalf of all who call themselves Chritians was certainly made with prayer and supplication, and an earnest desire for the truth to be known especially since he is a Pastor himself!

I definitely have it on my wish list. I was going to buy this book a few months back until I saw the price tag also haha. There is no telling on which type of stauros on which Jesus died. Here I found a great short interview with Gunnar Samuelsson on youtube.

I know about the price. AWggg I ordered it almost a year before it was available, as I was aware of the project. I think I might make copies of the conclusions reached and post it in awhile. It is such a detail oriented book that most of us are hard put to read all the in depth research and comparisons etc... it was tough for me and I am used to powering :)through materails like this. I will take this on as a project and I don't think it would constitute copyright infringement if I list it as his work. Look for it in a couple weeks if everything goes good.

Many people believe in a literal reading of the Bible when its much easier to find key aspects in the sky. After all lets not forget one of the favourite ideas in the Bible is "as above so below" which actually is a perfect summary of what im about to say.

The 3 kings, the virgin, bethelehm are all inthe sky in the constellations, of Orion. The belt of Orion holds 3 stars called the three kings, which point to the messiah of the Egyptian, Sirius, Bethelehem means bread, Virgo the virgin is of course Mary and she holds wheat and has several stars that convey a message of wheat. The story of the Magi is utter nonsenes and only makes sense in an astrological context,a fter all how exactly does a star in the sky point to a single building ? That makes absolute no sense at all. Jesus of course died for 3 days on a cross, which is a perfect match for what happens to the Sun on December 25, where it drops to its lowest point and remains there for 3 days while passing the southern cross. Coincidence ?Of ourseim only starting on some of the similarities there are plenty of others.

mP, this has nothing to do with a literal reading of the bible. It is a study of the execution device on which Jesus died upon.

I believe it was either the crux immissa (+) or crux commissa (T). I found this article helpful, especially the medical evidence.

When you realise that the Bible account of Jesus is nonsense and has no historical proof but rather is a new form of myth and astrology you realise it makes perfect sense. JWs have been waiting and looking at the earth when they dont realise Jesus message was about the stars.
