King Solomon, if you cared to read the other posts, you would see that the guy we/I are/am talking about is not the hacker, but is the person who was carbon copied along with Snare the email about the info. It may shed light on who the original sender was. The hackers are a group called Anonymous. Why be nasty and call BS on others?

Cheers Ohio, you are a legend!

i plan to email him via your findings later today and ask him who he is and how he got the list. I havent checked all your links yet, im suprised to hear you think he is a JW.

Ignore the small minded here. They are everywhere.

Also yes the image was a .png that you had to click on, but hushmail is checked for security, thats the only reason i opened it without too much concern.

I changed all my university email info to a new account today, next bank etc. so annoying.

I did read, and your assertion is nonsense: you have no idea who the original sender was. You've never heard of "spoofing", I take it? Any 12 y.o. who's half-way computer literate has...

So you think an individual who has the pedo list is going to publicly admit to being in possession of stolen property? They're going to risk having Interpol show up on their doorstep with a warrant to investigate their role in a computer crime, asking how they came into possess of it? WOW....

It looks like a phishing attempt, based on a bluff of having the pedo list. Anytime you see this kind of thing:

    - IMPORTANT! - if you decide to do so DO NOT
SUBMIT IT TO 'THE SOCIETY's DATABASES! THEY
    ARE BEING MONITORED BY ANONYMOUS!
Now you have been warned! Forward this
warning to anyone you know that might Also be
    in the same situation!

    That reeks of phishing...

OP compromised his entire system by opening the png, and now needs to wipe his drive, reinstall the OS, etc to remove the virus spyware (perhaps keystroke capture software).

I suspect OP is in on the phishing attempt, since he's done exactly what a phisher would want him to do, if the payload WAS spyware.

Dude, Anon is whomever wants to call themselves Anon. There's no "there there".

The hardcore group of hackers/IT pros/Sys ads are out of commission (many were busted by FBI last year, after agents infiltrated them by catching one in the act, threatening him with 125 years behind bars if he didn't act as their informant; he ratted out many others, and the chain reaction is still going on).

My point is, anyone who's halfway aware of Anons activities over the past 5 years (following the activity via Arstechnica, Gizmodo, or other tech journalists) knows this kind of stuff....

He seems to follow Anonymous and has images about JW's in his flikr.

I think he is a half hearted hacker. I just want to know where he got the list of emails from. Solomon, Anonymous can be anyone, look who was arrested, young socially inept teenagers in an average home. I dont care how you categorise them, he has all there feeds on his twitter and he obviously has accessed some data to get the email list.

Anyway, I will message him via twitter and see what i can find out.

If you look here http://pastebin.com/3NitcTLF there are details of the information that Anonymous have uncovered. Maybe your email address is on this list.

I would be surprised if this sort of damaging information was in a Bethel computer database, instead of on paper, inside a locked filing cabinet, inside a locked vault.

The email was written by an illterate. It is very unlikely it is genuine, and " Forward this warning to anyone you know that might Also be in the same situation!' is a typical invitation to pass on spam.

jw facts.... My email is in this list! Damn ! i knew it!

For all the people stating the obvious about the spelling etc you are missing the point that he had my email! I also expected that it would not be on a file and if anything, written down on my application form at the most! Damn.....!

Gonna have to delete it and change everything over.
