Look up heresy in Wiktionary, the free dictionary.

Heresy is a religious act or opinion held to be in opposition or ardent violation of the stated doctrine of the Christian Church (particularly the Holy Roman or Roman Catholic Church)or that of any church, creed, or religious system." - wikapedia

Thomas Aquinas: "...a species of infidelity in men who, having professed the faith of Christ, corrupt its dogmas" (Summa Theologica, c. 1270) Thomas Aquinas: "Wherefore if forgers of money and other evil-doers are forthwith condemned to death by the secular authority, much more reason is there for heretics, as soon as they are convicted of heresy, to be not only excommunicated but even put to death." (Summa Theologica, c. 1270).

I kind of prefer the sound of HERETIC, It sounds so medievel ....and brings up mental images of torture and the Inquisition. ?

Heh, I don't worry about what others (especially JWs!) feel the need to call me; they don't ask for MY consent anyway....

So if they feel the need to categorize me into some box or tiny compartment that makes it easier for them to deal with, that's their problem, their limited definition.

Yea, labels are fun but there's so many to choose from, why identify as something negative from a group you dislike and don't subscribe to anymore?

In my limited opinion - the Heretic believes that the underlying system is right, but that the leadership is wrong.

Sort of like the Catholic Church would be OK if we just got a better Pope.

The Apostate believes that the the whole of the underlying system is corrput, wrong, or fanciful - and refuses to believe in it any longer.

I call myself (in the JW sense - ) APOSTATE.

In my own sense - ENLIGHTENED UNBELIEVER.

Hmmm, I think I will wear the apostate hat rather than the heretic hat. "Heretic" brings to mind torture and burning at the stake.

A see myself as a observant bullshit detector, who analises and rationalizes all things including pretentiously lying and devious religious organizations.

I like heretic as well. Much less loaded meaning than apostate - almost sounds kind of silly.

I also like " observant bullshit detector"

to be not only excommunicated but even put to death." (Summa Theologica, c. 1270).St. Thomas...What a guy...if he were alive today, being a partaker and all....I bet he would be appointed to the Guberning Body ASAP!!!

I do like the sound of "observant bullshit detector" !!! humm

    So hard to decide.

    Heritic,

Burn me at the stake(after I die).

We should have nugget narrate a video describing how us herritics should be burned at the stake. She has such a nice voice, it would make a good video.

To me, the irony is that the WT$ used to write favorably about "Heretics" of the Catholic Church. Disagree with Catholicism=Praiseworthy. Disagree with the GB of Jehovah's Witnesses=mentally diseased Apostate deserving death.

The GB teaches ideas, doctrines and policies now that would have been considered "Apostate" many years ago. It's now funny to me. I vote for

    the "Bullshit Concious Class"
