Dagney, I'm using a Nikon CoolPix S6000
It seems to be a good compromise of picture quality, ease of use, portability and cost.
My son, who is an semi-professional photographer, recommended it to me, an ambitious amateur.

Yes, I remember the first time I saw Yosemite Valley. It was awesome. I also liked the Mariposa strand of large trees. California is great. Big Sur - don't forget Big Sur.

HANG ON A MINUTE!!
After looking at your pics, and taking a quick glance at the front cover of the video "Jehovah's Witnesses: The Organization Behind The Name", I've concluded that you and your Hungarian goddess must have, in fact, visited PARADISE!!
See for yourself...
00DAD - please confirm that you didn't accidentally slip into a time portal that whisked you to the promised new system?!

Cool pics of Tuolumne Meadows.
Looks like quite a few of your shots are free from the scourge of crowds. There are a lot of beautiful places in Yosemite to hike to that don't have any tourists -I think once you get a mile or so off the trailheads out of the Valley, you are good. I hope you decide to go back and enjoy the more remote sections!

Hey I missed you Buddy! what a great holiday,
I used to go to Yosemite, when I lived in CALI - great place if you can deal with the crowds and DA BEARS!
Funny story from over 10 years ago I Will share when you have time.
BTW, I was not aware your wife was Hungarian, I am too!
Tell her my family (mother was from Pest) and Father - from Eastern Hungary
I am full blooded Magyar
Köszönöm

Time to get back to y'all ... Flipper-style:
poopsiecakes, I've stayed in Curry Camp before I enjoyed it too, but it was like 17 years ago. I hear there was a lot more water last fall. Not so much this year as the winter was fairly dry.
Quendi, both spring or the early fall are supposed to be beautiful in Yosemite. There would usually be more water in the spring. Some years they don't let anyone swim the Merced when there has been a lot of snow the previous winter.
I've been skiing in Colorado in the Rockies at Beaver Creek. Really enjoyed it. I don't know how close that would be to the National Park.
I'd love to come visit the Great Smoky Mountains sometime! I'll have to add that to MY Bucket List.
3rdgen, Just for you: We didn't actually go on a vacation last week. I just made that up because I'm bored and it is my fantasy. Glad it brought back some memories for you though! ... lol
ziddina, my favorite Dragon Girl, thanks for sharing your recollections of Yosemite. Quite a story! Yes it's always worth it in spite of whatever negatives there are, the positives far out weigh them.
palmtree67, you gotta' go, you just gotta' go. Plan ahead and beware of the crowds in the valley. I suppose it's worse now since summer is coming to an end and school is about to start again.
Balaamsass, sounds like you were quite the adventurer back in the day. I've never done Half Dome but always wanted to. Just a couple of years ago they started a lottery to limit it to something like 300 people a day because it was unsafe.
Found Sheep, as I wrote to palmtree67, you gotta' go, you just gotta' go.
jamiebowers, pictures have been posted ... but I see you know that!
Scott77, it definitely didn't add to the experience!
Billy the Ex-Bethelite, Thanks, and you are right about my HLG!!!
BroMac, Yes. Viewed from Glacier Point, the falls to the right of Half Dome are Vernal and Nevada. I've posted pics! Look up!
leavingwt, Breath-taking! That's what my wife said ... repeatedly!
cedars, Glad you enjoyed the pics. I'm sorry I can neither confirm or deny your questions about time travel. I can tell you that the Vulcan Science Director has determined that time travel is impossible. But then again, he's out of his Vulcan-mind .... (say it out loud!)
flipper, you're welcome! Sorry I missed your call but we only got reception intermittently when we were in Yosemite. We were considering heading up to Tahoe at the end of the week and had hoped to swim in the lake with you and Mrs. Flipper but since we couldn't connect we decided to stay in Yosemite. Next time!
skeeter1, Agreed. We didn't really spend time on this trip in the Mariposa Grove. Maybe next time. The last two years we camped in Big Sur. Last year we also went up to the Redwoods in Humboldt. We stayed in a wonderful campground in the Avenue of the Giants. Simply amazing!!!
Kudra, you're right about my pics LOOKING like we were away from the crowds. I don't like to take pics of crowds. I'd go to Disneyland or a JW District Convention if I wanted that. We did get to enjoy some uncrowded areas: Tuolumne, Tenaya Lake, White Wolf to mention a few. But even in the crowded areas it's not hard to point the camera in a direction to get a great shot without lots of people.
dreamgolfer, Hogy vagy? I enjoyed our conversation today. Thanks for sharing your story and the encouraging words. BTW, as much as we talked you STILL didn't share your "Funny story from over 10 years ago." We'll have to get that next time! Viszontlátásra
Again, thanks to all for your responses. We had a great time in spite of the crowds in the valley. Overall it was an amazing trip. Already the Hungarian Goddess is trying to talk her daughter and her daughter's fiancé into joining us next year.
Look for more pics then!
