    Hello again NickL.

So much debate and confusion could be avoided by concerning ourselves with the "printed" comments of the WBTS and not judging the organization by the actions and words of some associated with it.

Why would we concern ourselves with printed materials that will be revised next year? No doubt the "printed" material by which we discussed things now would be taboo in a few years, especially if the society was blessed with "new light" on the subject.

Please remember that a catholic believes he is right because the POPE (mouthpiece of God) says so. You believe he is WRONG because your governing body (mouthpiece of God) says so. It is a matter of opinion. We are here to discuss differences in OUR opinion, not of a number of men who feel themselves annoited by God.

Jehovah God gave you free will, and you are free to use it on this board.

Another way of understanding the disgust JWs have towards other religions :

As mentioned earlier, false religion (all religions other than JWs) is called "Babylon the Great". In Revelation chapter 17 it refers to Babylon the Great as "the great harlot.... the mother of the harlots... drunk with the blood of the holy ones".

    Not a pretty thought, eh?

So if JWs are taught that this refers to religions other than JWs, you may understand why JWs show disgust and distain for other religions.

    Hello MissGuided,
    And Welcome!!
All the posts here seem accurate to me.
Just a side thought. It really does depend on the area you live in as to how JW's excersize their conscience. I lived in a remote area of WV for seventeen years, and they considered it an absolute no no to go into a church for any reason.
Guess I've always been a rebel. I went to two funerals in the same church for a lady I studied with. She lost two of her children. One was a still birth the other was about two years old. Ironically it was the very church the other Witnesses wouldn't set foot in for their own relatives funeral. Whatever, I always thought it brought a stench on JW's name to refuse to go. But that is just me.

    MissGuided,
When I was a witness, there was a time when I felt that I shouldn't (nor should anyone else for that matter)enter a church, no matter what the occassion. However, I have since learned that compassion should lead you in the decision of whether or not..but certainly I know that Jehovah knows our motives and afterall, he instilled us with these "human" emotions. It's cool.
