Maybe next year they'll have to knock the Aux Pio requirement down to 15 hours.

Does anyone have the worldwide figure? You may recall the June 15 mag that appeared before March was even over that said "During March, a special provision allowed auxiliary pioneers to choose whether they would devote 30 or 50 hours to the field service (Ps. 110:3) Millions shared in auxiliary pioneer service, and congregations seemed to radiate exceptional exceitement and joy." (w6/15 p23 par 14) For this statement to hold true, there would have to be at least 2 million.

Leaving,
According to the 2012 YB, there were 2,657,377 Aux pios in 2011. Probably won't know the 2012 worldwide number til the next yearbook is issued.
To what this really shows is the absolute lack of ideas coming from the top. Right now its just cut everything - hours, meetings, magazine size, possibly the DCs next. They are in circle the wagons mode.

If the worldwide trend followed the US, a 26% drop in the 2,657,377 figure from 2011 would put them under 2 million for 2012.

To get a better idea of impact: what were the numbers in 2010? Most likely, 2011 saw a surge, but in 2012, the novelty wore off.

In 2010 there was no special "30 hour" provision, so the comparison would be less meaningful.

That is a brilliant idea! Give out those little plastic trophies, with an engraving saying"Aux Pioneer", as a prize at the end of the month.
That should get some of those slackers off their asses.

There is a chart on page 8 of the 2012 YB, everyone can download at JW.org. Looks like in 2008 there were around 700k, then it dropped to around 550-600k in 2009 and 2010. That may have set off the alarms at HQ, as it looks pretty bad. So lo and behold, a loving provision comes down from on high that you can do 30 hours.
What will be interesting is to see the total baptisms this year. If in theory, all those extra hours last year actually worked, then droves of newbies should be getting dunked this summer.
My guess though is that it was a huge exercise in driving around in circles and handing out handbills to the Memorial, all of which resulted in little to no new interest. Probably another dip in baptisms this year, meaning the preaching work is even more worthless than in the past...
