Tune in for the thrilling adventures of . . . CAPTAIN BULLSHIT.

As he zooms from his hideout . . . faster than a speeding bullet.

Well, Sheriff Joe is no longer under investigation by the Feds. I wonder what happened behind closed doors?

Whatever it was, I'm sure both sides were in on it, Mr. Benny.

Just another distraction to keep people fighting each other.

I'm an avid political junkie but a month or so ago I pretty much stopped posting on the subject here. It became obvious that nobody wants to actually discuss anything.

Edited to add: I'm a conservative (on many issues) American. I didn't find the comment about ubber-stupid offensive as I think it describes most of humanity.

Wow... just this morning, I was thinking about a post Outlaw made a few nights ago regarding "being in the right group." It went a little something like "As long as you're in the right group, truth doesn't matter" with respect to JWs.

I went back to middle school as I thought about the parallel behaviors with respect to that statement. In middle school and for some, into high school, to be in the "right group" means to conform to the standards and notions of the group. You dislike who the group dislikes (nerds/non JWs) and only hang around the approved (cool/JWs). The right group maintains the right (accepted) hair style (mullets/no beards), the right clothing (Air Jordans & flipflops/suits & skirts), say the right things (we're cool but of course that goes without saying/we're in the truth but of course that goes without saying) and show an unquestioning loyalty to the leaders. Disfellowshipping and shunning are activities in both groups if loyalty to the leadership is questioned and so most, if not all policies & practices are maintained. Differences with respect to the core group are kept to one's self. The preservation of and affiliation with the group trumps all independent actions.

Shouldn't there be an aversion to this type of behavior? Isn't the goal to get as far away from that as possible?

It seems that the many of you are victims to the Watchtower's leveraging of a natural human desire to gain a group's acceptance. I would recommend that you not let your affiliation with a political party get you to a point that you blindly take skewed information to shove down another's throat. In doing so you've allowed that political party to take the place of the organization many of you loathe.

As someone who has voted in American politics for almost 30 years, I recommend that you vote for the candidate that you sincerely believe serves and will promote the interests that are important to you and your family and then shut up. A political party's fight is not worth losing the friendship of good people who can potentially broaden your thinking.

I'm at 9 of 10 posts but I really thought it was important to provide this food at the proper time.

    *giggling*

    Okay... bad joke. Sorry....

I haven't been booted from this board in years. I guess I'm off my game.

One of the problems of codgerism I face is losing my "touch" (whatever THAT is). Well, I guess I've lost it.

Gawd I miss the days when I was booted for whatever-it-is they boot people for. Got booted here. The charge was "terrorism" but I could be wrong.. I forget. Got booted a bunch of times from H20. The charge was "we don't like the facts", or maybe it was "you are pain in the ass.

Hey, Simon! How about a boot for old times sake? Then we can have a cyber beer or something. And laugh about the instanity of the human condition. Now THAT is funny!

Farkel, do you read novels? I just read one I totally enjoyed. "Water for Elephants". Nostalgic, atmospheric, endearing main character.

If you hold a wing up to a mirror, you see its opposite reflected in that mirror. This applies well to politics and the wingers who inhabit that wasteland.

The sad thing is that they need each other to validate their existence, much as the Christians need a Devil.

They waste a lot of money and resources squabbling with each other over scraps of meat, which could have been used to actually solve problems and build productive things.

right wing and left wing are just vulture parts
