Fear of discussing doubts

Band on the Run
I grew up with an extended family of Witnesses. Within the family, there was frequent crying at treatment from some KH big wig. Men cried. Masculine men. When I first saw this site, I was blown away. There was no internet. Criticiizi8ng the WT openly meant losing familial love. I wish younger people could realize the difference the Internet has made.
Long after I refused to attend meetings, I was still afraid. 1975 was a very bad year for me. The preveaance of fears that remain when one thinks rationally is very powerful. So many times I've had to explain to normal people that I don't believe a shred of Witness teaching -- yet I am in fear to this day.

I think this is a major reason why the GB demonizes "apostates" and "independent thinking" -- to keep doubting JWs isolated.
It's very sad when JWs with doubts are too frightened to confide in the very people who would understand them the best.
