No hand guns , but we have got a 22rifle, could have a bigger one but it could 'carry' off our own land , we have a farm. The rifle is for vermin and any seriously injured/suddenly ill animals. Useful when lambing always a few casualties.

Isn't ownership of a handgun, or any gun other than a hunting rifle, enough to get you disfellowshipped?

Yep.. own several..
Favorite is my Taurus 38 special five shot. Great revolver. Then secondly, my Glock .40 cal. Let's see.. also like the feel of my shotgun...great power trip when you shoot it. Then like my 9mm rifle.. and my hubbies .45 cal... well , you get the pic.

Many elders at my old hall owned handguns and so it certainly wasn't a disfellowshipping offense. At least not around these parts.

I take my handgun even while riding horse. Should the poor animal need to be putdown, what else could I use? A rock?

Im obligated to carry supposedly 24/7. Glock department issue and I also have a walther p99.

I have a bro-in-law who lived in the Dakotas for several years and he said that all the brothers out there carry a shotgun in a rack in ther pick-up's. The reason being that there are many wild animals out there. I'm not sure what animal he told me about but he said that if you killed it and brought the 2 front paws back to town, you get $50.

This in order to control that certain species.

Patriot; How do you like the Glock?? I have never fired on but when I handled one recently...My first thought was "CHEAP". I prefer the S&W slide guns .40 or bigger. In my opinion and experience, 9mm doesn't hit hard enough, unless you use a Hydra shock shell.

I am not a Glock fan although my son is. I also prefer the .40 as it's hard hitting yet the recoil is easy to manage. I have both a S&W and a Ruger. The Ruger is very well made and I use it the most.

But my concealed carry gun is a lightweight S&W .38. Only weighs 15 ounces and you don't even notice it is there.

Interesting thought about gun ownership = automatic DF. I think prevailing local customs would apply. In Brooklyn or LA one would probably get the boot, but in Wyoming or Montana? I doubt it.

I own several guns, but do not carry any of them, although at times I think I should get my concealed carry permit. I've had the opportunity to operate a .50 cal against a boulder the size of a house and watched rock chips the size of dinner plates fly off. Fun!

I've never been hunting - I have no problems with hunting, but I do have problems with folks who kill things just to kill 'em. (I'm a "city kid")

It would be nice to play host to Englishman and Simon (and you other Euro-apostates too) during an NRA show - they are MAGNIFICENT - you'll think you're at a Middle Eastern arms bazaar, 'cept there ain't no helicopters.

How about explosives? Any of you into homemade C4 or Astrolite?
