New Dates to help WTS

Not that anyone would want to help the WTS shore up its prophetic speculations, and continue to perpetrate their fanciful but idiotic schemes ... nevertheless ... in an effort to salvage their Biblical dreams, and escape their current embarassments and false prophecies, one might see them in the near future pull off something like the following.

You eyes might glaze over ... but this is short:

The 2nd Temple was started by Zerubabel in 517 BC and completed and dedicated in 515 BC. The WTS could easily make this 2nd Temple a symbolic 'Anti-Type' representing the renewed, rebuilt condition of 'spiritual Israel' the anointed 144,000 ... and then take the 2,520 years spoken of by Daniel, from the date of the dedication of the 2nd Temple, and voom ... boom ... flash ... zap ... we arrive at 2005 AD for the establishment of the 'completed and dedicated' spiritual anti-type Temple in heaven ... to eventually be occupied by the Temple Class.

Add to this, the walls of Jerusalem, built to protect the City outside the 2nd Temple and its people, were not completed until 445 BC ... this commenced the 70 weeks until the Messiah would arrive, according to Daniel. So, if we take the prophetic 2,520 years from 445 BC, we arrive at 2075 AD ... the time of completing the spiritual walls for the earthly city outside the Temple. This fittingly would mark the time for the commencement of Christ's 1,000 year rule ... with the symbolic Temple Class in Heavenly Jerusalem symbolized by the anti-typical 2nd Temple, and its then completed wall for the anti-typical earthly city outside the Temple.

The 70 weeks would symbolize the completeness of work until the typical arrival of the Messiah ... likewise, the 70 weeks would symbolize the anti-typical period of Messianic rule during Christ's 2nd coming ... to be followed by his final arrival at the end of the 1,000 years.

Yes, the foregoing is nonsense. But, I would not be surprised if the WTS pulled off something like it to move the JWs into another round of dates, based on 'New Light' and helping them forget the current 'Old Light' ... and, if the WTS reads this, and does publish some Temple type and anti-type foolishness ... you heard it here first.

Hope your eyes didn't glaze too much.

I think of Amazing and happy man as Laurel and Hardy.
Amazing are you glad you've picked up such a faithful companion?

The Watchtower Society, not Amazing, is the Laurel and Hardy jokester. Not impossibly they may resort to a renewed endtime prediction but if so not until sometime after the current child sex abuse scandal which nixes the 2005 possibility but the 2075 one would be more plausible. Right they they are hunkering down trying to survive, fearful of organized schisms, loss of money from donors. Amazing's bringing this up is good.

    anewperson,

WTS = Laurel and Hardy? Hilarious!

They have many reasons to point at each other and exclaim, "Well here's ANOTHER fine mess you've gotten us into!" Whether it's one of the scandals, or perhaps a new date -- it is not leading to happy times ahead for the WT Society.

Amazing, I really hope (for their sake) that they are through with date-setting. Hopefully the newer generation of WTS leaders will abandon that nonsense which just messes with the minds of their followers. (I only care because I have family and former friends who I care about still in....)

Personally, I wish the WTS would continue to make as many date predictions as humanly possible. The more they do that eventually more and more people will see how stupid they truly are and leave it all behind.

I don't feel like Satan but I am to them.

Right now their resorting to any new date predictions would be counterproductive but down the road of time they might resort to the same old tactic and I believe Amazing is simply pointing this out, which is commendable.

I agree with anewperson, the WT will stay away from making predictions in the near future but they will probably resort to their old tactics sooner or later. You have to remember it was tried and proven successful in the past. Just look at all the influx to the Borg in the early 70's. As far as dates are concerned, you can pull anything out of an old book and attach meaning to it. Look at the prophecies of Nostradamus or the book "Chariots of the Gods" etc. as examples. Every quack is so quick to try and attach and make sense of obsolete information.
