I am having a discussion with a JW who has contacted me on facebook. We are discussing the changed the wt society made to hte bible. In short he says he has a hebrew friend and that friend says the NWT is correct and no changes have been made. I know for a fact that the society has admitted to replacing the word lord with jehovah in mnay instances. But can anyone tell me of other speific instances where it has been changed?

Just because your jw has a jew friend, doesn't make that jew an authority on Biblical scholarship automatically. Credentials?
Good question. I think the most obvioius one is at Col 1:15-17 where they insert the word "other" into the translation to make it appear that Jesus was created and helped to make all OTHER things. The text doesn't say this at all. But here is a good link for some other changes that they made:
Perhaps someone can help, but I recall a Watchtower article (perhaps a questions from readers) that addressed why they inserted the word "other" and admited that it was no where in the original text.

How many times have I heard about this "friend" who knows Hebrew. They've run this line out for the last thirty years, but pin them down. I know English, but does that make me an expert in anything written in English? Sheesh.
There are so many changes it staggers the imagination. Some web sites list the changes. Check freeminds.org
Loosie, one so-called "scholar" that people will use to defend the NWT is Jason Beduhn. He has stated that he feels that the NWT is the most unbiased translation, although even he brings out several problems with it. Here are a couple links about it:

"In considering this matter it is well to note that Bible writers often took for granted that certain things would be understood, just as writers in our day do. For example, the apostle Paul states, as we read at Colossians 1:16, that by means of Jesus Christ all things were created in the heavens and on earth. But since we know from Revelation 3:14 that Jesus himself was also created, the New World Translation adds the word "other," which clearly is what the apostle had in mind. But even here, it might be added, that, were it not for the prevalence of the trinitarian teaching that Jesus was not created, it would not have been necessary for us to add the word "other."
