I just found a link that says the Bryant father chose this day to kill his family because it was his wedding anniversary. <sigh>

(thanks to Farkel for helping me with this link; thanks to Nathan Natas for posting the Memorial info AND PUTTING IT IN RED)

Besides the Bryant suicide-murder case, 3 previous JW-linked suicides in Oregon are given below:

    OREGON:

Brookings area Elsie Wilson age 61 died 1992 by suicide after being disfellowshipped for tobacco use

Keizer area Ernie Miranda in his early 30s died in 1989 or 1990 of suicide with gunshot wound to head

Redmond area Judy Kohler in her 40s died during 1983-88 from suicide Source: Memorial records on http://www.ajwrb.org which contain some who direct-suicided among a greater number who died after refusing transfusions.

And some people still say that the use of tobacco doesn't kill? Obviously this person preferred to die rather than forsake the bad habit.

Let me explain it to you this Yadirf:

When your car is broken, you take it to an auto mechanic and not to a carpenter.

When your washing machine is broken, you call in an appliance repairperson and not the Catholic priest.

When confronted with someone who is exhibiting symptoms of depressions, bi-polar disorder or other mental illness, Watchtower elders call in the literature, meetings and filed service instead of a physician and mental health professional.

    And we all know why.

I don't doubt we are going to find that those children might be alive today if their parents had not been JW's. we sahll see.

    Yadirf,

    Your link said this:

: And ... of course ... there's also no question but what the BBC (Bethel Baptist Church; a denomination of Christendom) sprang from the very seed that Satan himself planted. (Matthew 13:24-30) That they choose to be flag-wavers makes this a definite fact. Thus, the BBC is an imitation form of the real Christianity that Jesus himself sowed.

: Funny, isn't it? ... those who consider JWs to be crazy, are themselves crazy INSTEAD.

I agree with the crazy part. The "Satan" part is pure, speculative bullshit. But the whole thing is a red-herring: the issue is compassion for an entire family of six who is now dead. The Baptists showed compassion and freely volunteered to provide services. The "Christian" Watchtower Cult did not and would never do such a thing.

The issue is compassion, Yadirf, NOT crazy. I'll take a crazy but compassionate person any day-of-the-week over an allegedly non-crazy person who spends his or her life living a life of judgement and hate.

Which of those two types of people would Jesus take, Yadirf? Which one?

What would Jesus say about this? That's in fact what you're really asking, isn't it?

Perhaps this will answer your question:

Then another of the disciples said to him: “Lord, permit me first to leave and bury my father.” Jesus said to him: “Keep following me, and let the dead bury their dead." -- Matthew 8:21-22.
Now, isn't THAT one heck of a controversial statement? Wow, I can hear the objections already.

This is EXACTLY what the WTBTS should be paying more attention to.
Not knowing the circumstances surrounding these people there is that possibility that he did not receive the PROPER counseling and obvious treatment he needed.
If he murdered them so they would be reserected in the new system(as some have suggested) then he could have simply let his jw relitives have them rather then blow them away.
He didn't just get mentally ill enough to kill his family overnight.

I'm at a loss to hear one word of an expression of gratitude from Yadirf for the generosity that someone OTHER THAN JWs show.

Never ceases to amaze me. A JW wannabe that spends his time pursuing what he wants to do, except going to meetings. You got in made, huh Yadirf? Or maybe you should start attending meetings to relieve your guilt?
